Satisfy every entertainment-loving bone in your body with Royal Croquet Club‘s eclectic mix of Fringe shows on offer this year. With a selection so good our Feb/March calendar is overflowing, we decided to break down the physical theatre/acrobatic kind, because we’ve always dreamed of running away and joining the circus. The Strength. The Stamina. The Talent!

FILAMENT · Your ‘Circus Meets Chick Flick’ FixFresh from LA – a circus show, blending your favourite 80s movies with a modern spin. FILAMENT’s Australian premiere at the RCC.

Inspired by 80s teen films, including The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Filament follows eight characters and their coming-of-age stories. When the new kid in town comes across a particular group of friends, the audience is thrown into a world of lively personalities, all figuring out themselves and each other.

Filament combines astonishing circus feats with tales of love, self-discovery, acceptance, and betrayal. With an incredible lighting design and infectious soundtrack, Filament also shines a fresh yet familiar light on acrobatic theatre.

SLUMBER · A Dance/Death/Circus Combo

Circus. Dance. Blood.

A brand new circus dance show straight from New York is about to hit the Royal Croquet Club – hard. Slumber brings together a team of dancers and circus performers for a late night piece of theatre with a few surprises. With choreography by the MTV VMA-nominated duo Keone and Mari Madrid, who choreographed and performed in Justin Bieber’s hit video for ‘Love Yourself’ which has almost a billion views on views on youtube.

Five girls go out clubbing. What could go wrong? Set to a soundtrack of some of the biggest hits of the last few years. This sassy all girl (almost all girl) pseudo-horror comedy story is for anyone who’s felt murderous after a date.
