Mundamveli mangrove forest in the guise of development on the Manassery Greater Cochin Development Authority to dismantle (GCDA) is planning to file a case against.
Cases of non-forest tree growth in the region of Kerala Promotion Act will be registered under the 2005 mangroves for cage fish farming was being removed to make way. According to the Act, mangroves, cardamom and coffee plantations are notified and an even cutting trees on private land should receive permission from the forest department.
The agency alleged to work together on five acres of land was destroyed mangroves. GCDA after environmentalists filed a petition against the Kerala High Court issued a stay order. “But construction work is still ongoing,” said environmentalists.
“Kerala Forest Research Institute experts in the field will be asked to check if there were mangroves. We have some pictures to show the mangroves in the area. We also will collect details of landowner and ownership” of the investigation, which the Forest Department The site, an official said Tuesday.
