These days more than ever, life is on-the-go. If you don’t fuel your body properly, it’s easy to run out of energy or feel like you are constantly running on fumes. Providing healthy and wholesome fuel for active people who make the most out of life is our goal here at Nuts About Granola.

Eating healthy, simple foods is a great step, but there are many factors that go into having consistent energy throughout the day. Below are a few of our best tips to help maintain those energy levels:

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

You’ve likely heard the ‘drink lots of water’ advice before, but how much should we truly drink? Our bodies are all different shapes and sizes, and the ideal amount of water intake can vary from one person to another. A good, simple way to determine how much water is ideal for your body is to drink half of your body weight in ounces daily. For example, if you weigh 100lbs, it would be healthy to take in about 50oz of water per day, or a little over 6, 8oz glasses.

2. Dark = Deep Sleep

Exposure to bright lights before bed can reduce your melatonin levels and activate additional brain cells, making it more difficult to get a solid night’s sleep. Rest easy by eliminating phone and computer time at least 1 hour before bed, and dimming the lights in your home in the evening.

3. Eat Real Food

Take a good hard look at your food choices. It’s always helpful to get “back to basics” when looking at the ingredients of products. If you can’t pronounce certain ingredients, they are likely not the best fuel for your body. Eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day, and wholesome snacks in between. This Nuts About Granola variety pack is ideal for snacking, and our granola contains no preservatives, so you can enjoy it without any guilt.

4. Soak Up Some Sun

Make sure to step out into the sun for about 30 minutes each day. Without sunscreen, gentle, indirect sun exposure can help your body to absorb essential B12 vitamins, which will provide you with extended energy. The nicest thing about this energy source is that it’s always free – and (usually) just a few steps outside of your door!

5. Keep It Moving

Inevitably, there will be days when you feel tired and run down. The key is to keep moving through the fatigue. Push yourself to get 30 minutes of activity in per day, whether it is through a jog, swim, bike ride, or living-room aerobics. After you push through the initial sluggishness, you will feel more energetic and ready to take on the world!
