Holiday House Hamptons is a designer showhouse open to the public through Sunday July 21st in Bridgehampton, New York. Founded to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®, each space in the house is themed around a holiday or special moment in life that inspires the designer and celebrates life.
Yesterday I shared pics from the showhouse’s Opening Night Gala, including images of some of the designers of my favorite room designs. Today through the end of next week I’ll be taking you on a tour of my fave spaces, starting with the entry hall by Donna Livingston.
Designed as a tribute to women who have battled breast cancer, Ms. Livingston transformed a 22-foot high entry into a beckoning space that invites in friends and family.
White wood paneling compartmentalizes expansive walls into geometric, tone-on-tone patterning.
The dragon’s-breath-motif blue and off-white rug is a seventeenth century Northern Chinese design, symbolic of great destiny.
A bold painting, both in color and in scale, by Frank Bowling adds drama and interest. The figure of a woman sculpted by J.D. Hansen, “Madonna,” sits on the console.
On the foyer’s back wall, Robert Farber‘s abstract nude photograph entitled “Natural Beauty” adds feminine presence. His book Natural Beauty is dedicated to a friend who lost their fight to breast cancer. To underscore the female theme, a six foot tall bronze statue of a woman holds her stance, with strength and power.
