In November, Live The Life You Dream About will be a wee two years old. A little youngster by any metric, including that of the blog world, with its older and wiser 7, 8, and even 9-year-old blogs and their respective bloggers to learn from.
Meeting and learning from veteran bloggers is of course one of the million things I love about penning this blog. A lifelong student of every area of my interests, blogging is no exception. Just as with interior design, running a business, and marathoning, I am always reading blogs, books, and magazines on how to blog better, with greater authenticity, and greater gusto.
Attending Altitude Summit‘s second annual New York City blog conference (my first) was therefore a must. Altitude Summit’s origins come from the “[u]nderstanding that bloggers needed the connections a live event would offer… A live event to discuss what is new, what is working, what is not and what is next.” As several of my blog besties had told me, ALT Summit (for short) is “the premier business conference for pioneering bloggers and rookie bloggers alike.”
It really is. I had a wonderful time meeting new people and learning from some of the best design bloggers out there, including keynote speakers: Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge and Garance Dore.
Here’s my visual recap of the 9:00am-7:00pm June 20th event via seven instagrams posted in real-time. Note the pics do not include photos or content from any of the keynote or panelists’ content – a few further in-depth posts on that are to follow, including one on dinner with Flipboard the night before.
01 The day began with check-in between 8:00am and 10:00am at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO) Headquarters. Tables manned by well-known bloggers and bursting with MSLO crafting supplies were juxtaposed with delicious assortments of breakfast options, courtesy of Hayneedle. I zeroed in on making a chinese staircase friendship bracelet in purple, coral, and pink, as shown below.
02 Upon check-in we said hello to our Alt NYC gift boxes, literally overflowing with keepsakes – including a blue vintage fabric clutch from BlueQ, which I wore (see a pic) later that week to a Holiday House Hamptons Gala.
03 Crafting with Kim Wardell of Design Life Kids over bagels before the opening keynote.
04 The candy bar centerpiece that greeted us after the day’s panels at the cocktail party hosted by MSLO and JC Penney.
05 A photo booth close up with Tiffanni Reidy of Under A Peacock Moon and Tina Ramchandani of Life in Sketch.
06 Lovely cocktails curated by Martha.
