DLP team members have an opportunity to work closely with customers and their feedback, and collaborate across functions in creating the best product in the market. Located in the energetic SoMa section of San Francisco, the office is an easy walk from BART and Caltrain.

Responsibilities:

Work closely with engineering managers and leads, product managers, ensure rapid execution and on time, high quality delivery of complex DLP projects. Interact with and motivate talented engineering teams across multiple locations, harness their high energy to deliver top quality products.

Oversee a specific DLP product release from planning to delivery to support, leading a cross functional team of internal and external partners. Coordinate beta programs and conduct release retrospectives.

Work with other Symantec teams external to DLP to successfully coordinate release lifecycle activities outside of engineering such pricing and licensing, product mastering, trade compliance, product certifications, legal product filing, and release packaging.

Coordinate planning and change activities in an Agile manner, sometimes directly with the team as their program manager/Scrum Master and other times with other program managers to integrate all features into a release package.

Contribute to continuous improvement on engineering development and release processes. Collaborate within the program management team, across engineering management, and product management to implement key performance improvement metrics that can be used to drive targeted process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Well-organized with project information (recording, tracking, reporting). Demonstrated attention to detail and exacting quality standards.

Demonstrated experience facilitating dynamic meetings, coordinating among high energy participants and directing towards productive results.

Demonstrated experience running projects using agile development principles, with knowledge of industry standard tools and best practices. Experience with helping or driving groups to migrate from waterfall or other methodologies to agile/Scrum is a plus.

Good negotiation skills, demonstrated ability to manage crucial and/or challenging conversations.

Ability to manage and reach solutions to competing priorities.

Technical acumen, such as ability to dive into issues of a more technical nature to anticipate risk and other key understanding of critical issues, to hold constructive conversations with senior engineering team members

Demonstrated ability to interface and liaise between technical and non-technical audiences. Experience working directly with engineers and test members, as well as presenting to executive management.

Customer-focused. Experience interfacing with external customers would be a plus.

Experience with using metrics and data analysis to support or drive the right or most beneficial process improvements.

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment, willingness to adapt to change and proceed on decisions made with varying levels of uncertainty.

Ultimate team player. Collaborative yet passionate and motivating. Experience managing teams across locations (international) is a plus.

Minimum 8 years experience in a commercial software project management role, with a solid understanding of the full product release lifecycle.

B.S. degree in a technical field. M.S. degree or equivalent experience is a plus.

Certified Scrum Master is a plus.

Six Sigma or CMM experience is a plus.

PMP or SCPM certification a plus.
