After years of drought and late openings, mountain ski resorts are parlaying plenty of early snow into early starts for the ski season.
On the north end of the lake, Boreal Mountain Resort, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, Northstar Resort, Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are all open, said Connie Liu, spokeswoman for the North Lake Tahoe Visitors Bureau.
Sugar Bowl Ski Resort in Norden will open Friday. Homewood and Tahoe Donner will open Dec. 9 and Diamond Peak in Incline Village will open Dec. 15.
