Sunday was my very first Susan G. Komen Run Walk — in San Francisco — right along the water of their landmark the Embarcadero.
Joanne Horning, here with me before the Race for the Cure, is the founder of Komen SF Bay Area — which has the distinction of being the very first Affiliate of Susan G. Komen.
Joanne’s founded the San Francisco Affiliate in when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She says the diagnosis became her call to educate women about early detection and exams.
Thanks to Susan G. Komen and inspiring women like Joanne, great strides are being made to end breast cancer.
