NEW YORK, August 20—Interior Design magazine (interiordesign.net), the global design authority, announced today that, for the first time in decades, it is dedicating an entire issue to the Best of Residential Design. Interior Design Homes, available November, will also launch the Residential Leaders list, celebrating the top architecture and design firms in this high-profile sector.

For over 80 years, Interior Design magazine has been respected as the leading voice of authority in the design profession, featuring cutting-edge projects the world over. Coverage has uniquely embraced every sector: Office, Hospitality, Retail, Institutional, and even Health Care as well as Residential. The decision to publish an exclusively Residential issue addresses a need in today’s ever-shifting and ever-expanding marketplace.

“Design has experienced explosive growth, and we are witnessing great changes in how design is practiced,” Interior Design Editor in Chief Cindy Allen says. “Commercial and Residential, once considered different aspects of the craft, have merged in innovative ways. For instance, an office lounge can resemble a chic living room, and a posh hospitality suite can pass for a luxe apartment. These shifts, accompanied by a huge interest in modern and contemporary aesthetics, make this the perfect time for Interior Design to create this special issue.”

Interior Design Publisher Carol Cisco notes, “Residential is the second-largest market sector for designers today. With half of the 30,000-plus firms in the U.S. working on Residential projects, we felt it was the right moment for us to devote an issue solely to this topic. Interior Design Homes will cover various aspects of this booming area, bringing our readers and advertisers a closer look at the innovations happening across Residential.”

Interior Design Homes will be distributed to Interior Design subscribers, with bonus distribution to interior design industry association members and increased newsstand coverage, including exclusive distribution at more than 200 private airports across the U.S. Copies will also be available at Interior Design’s Best of Year Awards ceremony on December 3, 2015.
