Design collaboration to launch in 2014.

NEW YORK, November 5, 2013 — Iconic California lifestyle brand Fred Segal®, owned bySANDOW® (sandow.com), will introduce its first-ever designer collaboration with Kravitz Design, Inc. (kravitzdesign.com), called Fred Segal x Kravitz Design. The news was announced today by Adam I. Sandow, Chairman and CEO of SANDOW, and Lenny Kravitz, Kravitz Design’s Founder.

Supporting the launch of this unique collection is MARK STYLER Co. Ltd. (mark-styler.co.jp), who is opening several Fred Segal retail locations in Japan starting in 2014. Fred Segal x Kravitz Design will be sold at Fred Segal stores in Tokyo and Los Angeles, as well as at the Philippe Starck-designed SLS Las Vegas, where Fred Segal will open seven boutiques in 2014. For consumers who cannot visit a Fred Segal location, the collection will be sold online at fredsegal.com.

The Fred Segal x Kravitz Design collection, launching in 2014, will feature at least 10 stylish items for men and women, including:

Fashion Accessories

Clothing

Travel Accessories

A limited edition motorcycle

Each item will be custom-designed by Kravitz Design as envisioned by Lenny Kravitz. Prices will range from $100 to $100,000 (for the limited edition motorcycle).

“When we thought about launching Fred Segal’s first designer collaboration in over 50 years, we approached Lenny and his team at Kravitz Design,” said Sandow. “With his L.A. roots, sense of style and impeccable eye for design, Lenny really understands the Fred Segal brand and aesthetic. He was the perfect partner for our inaugural exclusive collection and the products he¹s designing are going to be must-haves.”

The Fred Segal partnership also marks the first collaboration Kravitz Design has done with a retailer, one that has special significance to the company’s founder. “I grew up shopping at Fred Segal and have always felt connected to the brand and what it stands for — a vibe of laid-back luxury that resonates far beyond Los Angeles,” added Kravitz. “I’m thrilled to be introducing this collection in Fred Segal stores worldwide.”

The deal between Fred Segal and Kravitz Design was brokered by Culture + Commerce, a SANDOW company and design management agency that represents both brands.

“Spearheaded by Lenny’s vision, Kravitz Design has done many exciting projects — from luxury hotel design to reinventing Starck’s classic Kartell Mademoiselle chair — but this is the first time they’ve ever created a line of fashion and lifestyle products for a retailer,” said Michele Caniato, President of Culture + Commerce. “With a shared pulse on the latest trends and a background in California style, putting Kravitz and Fred Segal together was a natural connection.”

Founded in 1961, Fred Segal is rooted in Hollywood culture and is the style destination for everyone from celebrities and rock stars to royalty and locals alike. The retail icon is famously known for discovering and launching some of the hottest brands in beauty and apparel. Since being acquired by SANDOW in 2012, Fred Segal has opened a 2,200-square foot location at the new, state-of-the-art international terminal at LAX, its first outside of the two original Los Angeles stores. In the works are branded products, e-commerce and lifestyle destinations around the world, starting with Tokyo in fall 2014.
