Sakaiminato Division police arrested Nakaoka Atsushi (38; from Yonago), a supervisor at the training and development division of the Tottori Prefecture Education Committee Centre. According to police, Nakaoka admits the charges.

Both the police and education committee state that until March this year, Nakaoka had been working as a teacher at the prefectural Sakai High School, and was an acquaintance of the woman. Nakaoka has a wife and child, and it is taken that there was no sexual relationship between him and the victim.

The reason for Nakaoka’s arrest was because he is alleged to have smeared his own semen in the woman’s lip balm so that she could no longer use. The incident occurred at a school in the western part of Tottori prefecture between December 28 and January 7 last year. Police said that the woman came to the school on January 7, and went to use her lip balm, but when she put it on her mouth she didn’t feel right, and said “It felt strange”, and that was when she noticed that semen had been put in the balm.

In January, a person associated with the school discussed the matter with police, and Nakaoka emerged as the suspect from conversations with the woman and from DNA evidence. The Tottori Education Committee commented that “If the charges are indeed true, then it is a terrible disappointment. We will make an effort to establish the facts of the situation, and will seek a harsh punishment”.
