Although many consider Maz to be the “new Yoda”, I must say that I see their similarities as only skin deep. In fact, I think they could not be more different. Let’s start the comparison, shall we? ;)

Round 1 - Castle VS Hut :

Maz’s Castle

Please do notice the massive Maz(?) statue found at the entrance of what possibly used to be a Jedi temple, on the left here. The Blu Ray is not out yet, so I could not get the frame where Han, Rey and Finn enter the tavern and where the sculpture can be seen en face. It features a very Maz-like creature holding out its hands towards the sky.

Sounds familiar?

Bonus #1: Found on urban dictionary, a post from 2003:

maz: A creature with a very big ego. Can also be used as a verb. Wow, look at him mazzing.

Yoda’s Hut

Yoda’s hut is the epitome of modesty. Yoda might be in a self-imposed “exile”, but he keeps a humorous attitude and does not seem to mind living the way he does the least, much akin to a monk. He is everything but materialistic and regards bodies and the physical (including size) as unimportant and inferior to spiritual values.

Let’s take a look at this photo

Maz is seen wearing precious bracelets and rings - to be expected, since she is a pirate (a profession utterly materialistic). Speaking of hands, let’s get to…

Round 2 - The Boy Is Not Ready:

Maz

Maz seems to constantly be pushing people into fights. First, there was Rey, a girl who had just discovered that she was Force sensitive by having a vision (Maz is very breathy when she meets her right thereafter - could Maz be the one inducing the vision? Could she have induced visions in Kylo as well? - I will speak about this later in the post). Maz seems disappointed when the terrified girl runs away.

She then gives the lightsaber to Finn (and asks him “Where’s the droid”, not even “Where’s the girl who has just discovered that she is Force sensitive” - she does not seem much concerned with the thought of what if such a girl gets caught by the First Order), tells him “that he has a weapon”, and encourages him to fight.

It seems slightly strange that Maz just passes around the epic weapon people would kill for, unless she has hidden intentions.

On the other hand, we have Yoda…

Transcript:

YODA
Run! Yes. A Jedi’s strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger… fear… aggression. The dark side are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan’s apprentice.

Yoda insists that Luke must have patience in order to become a Jedi.

When Luke decides to go and help Han and Leia after having a vision of their demise in a “City in the clouds”, Yoda and Obi-Wan do the opposite - tell him NOT to go, since he is not ready, and might fall to the dark side.

Actual Strength with the Force :

Maz is known to be over one thousand years old. Yet, she seems very lively.

Let’s compare that to Yoda:

You know who was said to know how to cheat death?

Now, do not tell me that maz and Snoke do not look related.

Did Snoke care about Maz?

Maz has certainly been around for a long time… She might have even been famous in the time of, or a friend of - Anakin.

Is this a Maz figurine in Anakin’s Room?

Furthermore, she might even posses this chest; shoutout to @bloodborne-knight for dragging my attention to this, you rock! Make sure to visit her blogs - @bloodborne-knight and @reylo-in-the-stars, as well as this amazing meta - http://reylo-in-the-stars.tumblr.com/post/140760503346/kylo-rens-past-and-reys-future ! :)

Obi Wan with the chest containing Luke’s future lightsaber.

I wondered if the objects that seem to be made out of tissue are actually Kylo’s Padawan clothes. Kylo states that the Lightsaber is his during the climatic fight in TFA (I take this quite literally)  - what if what is contained in the chest is trully his? If Maz was the person he stepped by to visit before joining Snoke?

Also, Maz owns the podracer flags which she had proudly hung at the entrance of her castle. No one would probably see this as anything suspicious - who remembers that one race on that one desert planet all those decades ago?

Is she obsessed with Anakin (possibly artificially concieved by the doing of Darth Plagius, alluded to in Return of the Jedi), the Skywalkers..?

Another question - was she obsessed with Kylo then?

It is quite plausible that Kylo would visit Maz with Han - after all she is a friend of the Resistance. Through the Resistance, she would achieve two things - 1) Get revenge on Palpatine for (failing in?) killing Darth Plagius and 2) Have a perfect chance to poison young Kylo’s mind. It has been noted that Kylo was being corrupted before he was sent to the Academy. Was the answer under Han and Leia’s noses? Maz is a gatherer of artifacts. Who would be more likely to have given Darth Vaders (speaking) helmet to a young Kylo?

In addition, notice the way both Maz shouts out “Han Solo!” once the aforementioned comes to visit and the way Snoke says “your father… Han Solo” to Kylo.

Bonus #2: Maz is, pretty-much, the Pirate queen. Some of the Pirates in her cantina work with the First Order (including the groups that occupied Han’s ship - see the theory here: http://moody-avocado.tumblr.com/post/140590616257/how-rey-lead-the-first-order-straight-to-luke ). One, Bazine Netal - http://geekdad.com/2015/11/the-perfect-weapon/ , trained by

the retired pirate Delphi Kloda, even gives them a ring upon noticing the Millennium Falcon’s crew. How did Maz know the Falcon moved? Unkar Plutt works for the First Order. Han tells Rey that Maz knows everything and that she was the one to notify him of the Falcon’s re-activation.

Thoughts?

Are you telling me Maz Kanata is in fact…Snoke?
*SCREAMING*

HOLY SHIT!!! O-M-G!!!!!

HOW COULD I MISS ALL THESE CLUES!!?????

Maz Kanata is THE PERFECT SNOKE!!!!!

And here are even MORE reasons to WHY:

- I’ve always suspected that the ”hologram Snoke” must just be a disguise/a protection from his real identity. And WHO is technical enough to use a hologram? That’s right. MAZ KANATA (just look at her weird glasses for god’s sake! Lol.)

- Short Snoke would be canon, lol.

- Just what I thought – Snoke is not a man, but a WOMAN!

- If Han has known Maz for a long time, then it would be SO MUCH easier for Maz to be around the Skywalker family and groom Kylo as a child.

- If there ever was a traitor – Maz would be the perfect one.

- We don’t know in detail HOW Maz got Anakin’s lightsaber.e___e

- Snoke felt an awakening in the Force AND Maz got VERY interested in Rey when she came to her place. She EVEN asked Han who she was!!! Perhaps Maz immidiately FELT that Rey WAS the awakening.

- If that’s the case, then I wonder if Maz lied to Rey about her family coming back for her.O__o Because an abandoned and angry Rey = a good candidate for the dark side.

- Maz being 1000 years old (COME ON!! Makes you wonder what her secret is..)

- It seems that Luke was never close to Maz, and I wonder why? I mean she’s powerful and good (lol)? Why didn’t he give/trust her with any of the two pieces of the map to find him? Makes you wonder if he had any suspicions towards her…e__e

- I’m starting to believe there’s a prophecy saying that Kylo and Rey will bring balance to the force (or become powerful) – so if Maz knew that, then it wouldn’t surprise me if she was setting up a trap and WAITING for the next one (Rey) to come and claim Anakin’s lightsaber.

- The fact that JJ said that he and Lawrence were always sure of Maz Kanata’s name (is it an anagram btw?), just like they were with Kylo’s (the importance of the character!!!). Also that Yoda may have crossed path with her.

My mind is blown, but could it be her? Could Snoke be in fact, Maz Kanata?
