The Pennsylvania Department of Education has developed a comprehensive researched-based resource to improve student achievement called the Standards-Aligned System (SAS), available at http://www.pdesas.org. The site is publicly accessible, but provides additional resources to users such as teachers when they log in.
To browse the PA Standards in traditional content areas, click on the Standards tab near the top of the page. There you will be able to access K-12 standards for

Student Interpersonal Skills
A recent addition to the SAS site is the Safe and Supportive Schools element. While also linking to the Student Interpersonal Skills standards, this section provides educators with information about school engagement, school safety and school environment. PDE will continue populating this element with resources for teachers and administrators.
An additional resource especially for teachers is the Assessment Creator. Using this tool, teachers can create assessments using sample questions in the SAS system. This allows teachers to view sample questions and performance tasks. Once an assessment is developed, it can be printed for students’ use or saved in the Teachers’ ePortfolio.
Visit pdesas.org to view content standards, learn more about Safe and Supportive Schools and experiment with the Assessment Creator. If you are interested in looking at some of the samples in the Assessment Creator, please contact me for a quick demo!
