If you’re new here, #MotivateME Monday is a weekly link-up co-hosted by myself and Running Rachel for accountability and encouragement. It’s a place for us to share goals, plans, successes and have each other to pick us up to keep moving forward.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and weekend with your friends and families.  Mine was full of family time and lots of yummy food!  I tried to gravitate towards the healthier choices but I feel that it’s also ok to enjoy some chocolate too  I just realised while going back in my archives to review last week’s fitness plan that I didn’t post last week Monday, I’m really sorry for leaving you hanging, can you forgive me?

Christmas here in Fitness Cheerleader land was busy and active.  Tuesday morning I went for a 7k run with Juliette and Becky.  Then on Wednesday I went to BodyPump at GoodLife Fitness on my lunch break, then in the evening I went for a fun 8k run with Juliette and Becky to look at the Christmas lights on the older homes in our town.  Afterwards we enjoyed a few glasses of wine and some snacks togther

On Christmas Eve we surprised the kids and took them to the movies to see Star Wars. We only go to the movies about once a year so it was a very special treat.  Then, after the movies we came home and opened our Christmas Eve gifts – pajamas and books for everyone.  The girls looked adorable in their new onesies:

Obligatory sitting in front of the tree photo, Sierra is a “cow”, Amber is an “owl”, and Brooke is a “penguin”.

Santa came and spoiled the girls with crafts, games, toys, hockey clothes, and sporting goods.  He spoiled me with a new winter running outfit from Nike (so nice and warm!) and a bunch of gift cards that are now burning a hole in my pocket We were also spoiled with amazing weather, so after the gift opening chaos ended we all walked to the girls school to play a game of road hockey. It was so much fun!

We played kids against the adults – Amber took the first shift as the goalie for the kids, and my brother was the goalie for the adults.

Here we are taking a face off – you can see my new Nike outfit that I tried to make more festive with a red scarf  And the girls are wearing their new hockey clothes.  Santa said he was really excited to find “Hockey” stuff at Justice.

Here Brooke is celebrating the goal she scored on my brother.

The kids won the game 6-2, then we went and played for awhile at the park.  Once we got home, the girls baked egg nog scones with my future sister-in-law.

While we were out playing, my hubby was busy in the kitchen making us a delicious turkey dinner.  Unfortunately I ate my dinner so quickly that I forgot to take a picture (bad blogger).

On Boxing Day (Saturday) we continued our tradition of going for a run together, followed by a trip to Scooters to go roller skating:

Then yesterday, my oldest daughter was playing in a hockey tournament, so we went to cheer her on at her first game, then came home during the break.  I then snuck out for a nice solo 8.5k run before heading out to watch her next game.  After my run I added in a 10 min kettlebell workout – I really want to up my strength training game next year.

This week I’m off of work ALL WEEK!  I have to log in and do some work, but I’m home with my family!  Tomorrow Sierra’s hockey tournament continues with two games and the skills competition.  Then Tuesday we have tickets to see an OHL Hockey Game (the Mississauga Steelheads) where our two youngest daughters will be skating on the ice during one of the intermissions (only the girls don’t know yet).  On Thursday night I’ll be running the Resolution Run – a fun 5k race before our annual New Year’s Eve party – this year’s theme is roaring 20’s.

Here’s this week’s fitness plan:

Monday: DailyBurn #Blackfire workout
Tuesday: 5 mile run + kettlebells
Wednesday: 3 mile run
Thursday: 3 mile run (Resolution Run)
Friday: DailyBurn #Blackfire HIIT workout
Saturday: 5 mile run + kettlebells
Sunday: Rest

All in all I had a very nice holiday with my family and friends, and I’m looking for another week spending time with those I love.

Merry Christmas everyone!
