Happy Monday everyone!  Did you stay up and watch last night’s Super Bowl?  I had a few friends over to watch Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform during the half-time show.  Yes – you read that right, we didn’t watch any football, just the musicing.  Our male significant others went to one house, and us ladies threw our own Sportsing Bowl party at my place with the kids. We all wore our favourite non-football jerseys:

Go Sens Go! Oh wait?  They’re not in the Super Bowl?!?

And we ate the chili that I made, pulled pork sliders that my friend Laura made, a 7-layer chip dip made by my friend Christine, a taco salad that Juliette brought, and some delicious homemade cookies by Julie. Yum yum yum!!

So what did you think about the half-time show?!?  I thought that Bruno Mars was amazing!! I would love to see him live in concert. And the Red Hot Chili Peppers… I was drooling! I love love love me some Chilis! They are one of my all-time favourite bands.  Unfortunately the half-time show was MUCH too short :(

Hmmmm isn’t this a health and fitness blog?

Ok – so you caught me trying to distract you with Super Bowl talk.  Yes, I did workout some this week and I’m feeling MUCH better finally!  I got out on Thursday for a spinning class and tried to sweat out my flu:

Hot sweaty mess!

I certainly succeeded in the sweating part, but I’m not so sure about the getting rid of the flu part, so I took Friday off.  By Saturday I was feeling amazing and ready to kick some winter running butt.  And that I did with my friend Juliette.  We tackled 6km at an easy pace before yet another winter storm hit.

I thought I’d tilt my head and take a selfie with a half grin ala Darwinian Fail - she looks cute when she does it

Total for this week: 6k

13 week total: 250k

If I’m going to qualify for Boston then I’m going to have to step up my game, 250k over 13 weeks is pitiful.  Thank goodness I’m finally healthy and start really running again.  Here is my training plan for this week:

Monday: 6k run at lunch
Tuesday: 8k run at lunch
Wednesday: lunch BodyPump class
Thursday:lunch spinning with super hot Craig (instructor)
Friday: rest
Saturday: long run day, 10-15k?
Sunday: Swing the kettlebells

Oh so, you might be looking around here asking your self if you’re on the right blog… Where did the red go?!? Yes yes of course you’re on the right blog!  I had an opportunity last week to play around with the Beautiful Pro theme using the Genesis Framework for a blog redesign of a client and I LOVED how it turned out.  I had MAJOR blog design envy, so I made a few changes to what I created for her, and designed a new header for Fitness Cheerleader and voilà! What you see here is the result.  What do you think? I’m not completely sold on these colors et, though I do love how clean and easy to read it is.

Have a great week everyone!

Did you watch the Super Bowl?  Which team were you rooting for?
Did you like the half-time show?
