NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN JOINTLY WITH THE QUEEN’S HARBOUR MASTER PORTSMOUTH that a Charity Swim will take place, in support of the Five Island Swim Challenge, between Ryde Pier and East Cowes on Saturday 20 July 2013.

Fifteen swimmers will be taking part in the event, the swimmers will be closely followed by fives kayaks. In addition, there will be 3 support Ribs – a 6.5 metre RIB call sign ‘HASLAR RIB’, a 5.3 metre RIB call sign ‘SWIMMER RIB’ and a 4.5 metre lay away RIB.

A listening watch on VHF Ch12 (VTS Southampton) Ch11 (QHM) and Ch67 (Solent Coastguard) will be maintained throughout the swim.

The proposed route of the swim is from Ryde Pier approximate position N50.44.30 W001.09.85 to the Shrape Mud East Cowes N50.46.00 W001.17.00. The swimmers will remain inshore and outside the main navigational channel at all times, the swim is expected to start at 0900 and complete by 1300.

The escort craft will display the International Code ‘ALPHA’ Flag whilst escorting the swimmers.
All mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmers and their support craft during their swim.

This notice will be self-cancelling on conclusion of the swim.
