Woke up this morning to the sound of thunder. When I made it outside the sky was dark all around and if you were going to bet, you would bet that sometime during the day we were going to get rained on. Nope it didn't happen! And we were glad, since we were going to meet our friends for lunch at noon at a restaurant close by. We left the Salty Dog on board this time and headed over to pick up Phil and Maggie at 11 o'clock. We went to the dock by City Of Miami boat yard to sea if we could tie up our dinghy while we went to the restaurant and after much moaning and groaning, they agreed. We were only going right next door and there were no boats tied to the dock. For a place with so many boats, this area does not go out of their way to make life easy for boaters with dinghies! There are almost zero dinghy docks anywhere so that you can tie up and go ashore to walk around. There are almost zero ladders at any dock for you to use to get off a dinghy onto the dock. Most of south Florida is the same way, but this is the worst. It looks like an area that makes so much money from the boating public, you would think they would make it a little easier for them. Along with not having dinghy docks, they also don't have diesel fuel. Plenty of gas pumps, but no diesel pumps! I have checked on Active Captain and have found one around the corner south of us that does say they have diesel fuel at the dock. We plan on taking the dinghy over there tomorrow and check it out. It will be on the way to No Name Harbor if it works out. Right next to us is a super nice marina with 95 percent of the boats there with diesel engines. You would think that they would have a diesel pump if nothing else. Nope, but they do have three gas pumps! I can't figure it out.
