If you’ve played the Bayonetta games at all, you may remember that her voice is a huge part of her character. Hellena Taylor is the English voice of the Umbra Witch in both games, as well as Bayonetta’s various other appearances, including Super Smash Bros, Anarchy Reigns and the Bloody Fate anime. I’m usually not a fan of overly sexy female characters in ridiculous outfits in video games, but Bayonetta really owns her sexuality, and she is one of my favourite video game characters.
I was really pleased when Taylor reprised her role as Bayonetta for the second game, as I don’t think anyone else could pull this character off. It’s a little disappointing that she hasn’t done much other voice work in video games. She’s had roles in The Golden Compass game (as Serafina), Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (as Phiona), and various voice parts in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, Blazing Angels 2 and Dragon Age: Origins. The British actress has also done some live action and theatre work over the years.
