Representatives from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) recently visited the ZF TRW headquarters in Livonia, Michigan. Joining the CATARC representatives were Chinese vehicle manufacturers including Chery and several domestic electric vehicle makers, Tier One suppliers and some of China’s leading research universities.
CATARC is China’s primary government partner that works to establish and publish standards for the Chinese automotive industry. Its primary goals are enhancing safety and helping protect the environment through emissions and other standards.
ZF TRW and ZF have worked with CATARC in the past on various collaborations including the testing of occupant safety systems to meet China’s C-NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) standards.

Stewart also headed up ZF TRW’s Asia Pacific operations for several years. “CATARC has been a valuable partner in the past and we look forward to continuing to engage with them on the very important topics of safety and the environment in China.”
ZF TRW demonstrated its broad portfolio of safety technologies to CATARC delegates
The CATARC visitors included Mr. Wu Zhixin, vice president of CATARC; Mr. Li Zanfeng, general manager, CATARC Yancheng Automotive Proving Ground; Mr. Pan Xinfu, section manager, CATARC Yancheng Automotive Proving Ground; Mr. Wang Cheng, deputy director, Beijing CATARC Science and Technology Center; Mr. Ma Jianyong, section manager, Beijing CATARC Science and Technology Center; Ms. Yang Ying, section manager, China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association; Mr. Zheng Yuanhui, general manager, CAQC Certification; and Mr. Qin Kongjian, section manager, National Passenger Car Quality Supervision and Inspection Center.

The two organizations have further meetings planned at ZF TRW’s European Occupant Safety Systems headquarters in Alfdorf, Germany and at the recently expanded technical center in Anting, China.
