Sacramento River fishing report July 30, 2015.

Sacramento River salmon fishing report.

The salmon fishing below the Red Bluff Diversion Dam continues to be slow this past week with very few king salmon moving through Hamilton City, Corning and Los Molinos.  There are however, very good numbers of both American Shad and school and keeper sized striped bass around to catch.  The Sacramento River above the Diversion Dam opens on Saturday August 1st.  The upper River will be open to salmon fishing above red Bluff up to the Deschutes Bridge in Anderson.  There has also been good reports of king salmon being caught around the Golden Gate Bridge this past week.  More and more salmon will enter the Sacramento River with prime salmon fishing in mid August through October.

Sacramento River trout fishing report

The closed upper 5.5 mile stretch of Sacramento River will re open on Saturday August 1st from the Highway 44 bridge up to Keswick Dam.  Rainbow trout fishing should be very good for both fly and conventional fishermen on the opener.  Trout fishing downriver has been spotty with rainbow trout being caught where you find them from Redding downriver through Red Bluff.  Anglers should see some larger trout come in on the upper river opener in downtown Redding on Saturday.

Shasta Lake bass fishing report.

Bass continue to bite well early in the mornings and late in the evenings on top water lures like the super spook. There has also been a good bite later in the mornings with a 1/8th to 3/16th ounce mud pie tube bait. Best bets with the tube baits has been fishing the mud lines throughout the lake.
