It is the fate of new truths to begin as heresies and end as superstitions. Thomas H. Huxley

Half my life is an act of revision. John Irving

I have for instance among my purchases . . . several original Mona Lisas and all painted (according to the Signature) by the great artist Kodak. Spike Milligan

The Aries new Moon falls on March 31 in Australia and March 30 in the United States. This is a fairly firey new Moon with Uranus positioned just two degrees after it, which means that the hours and days following the new Moon could be rather interesting, perhaps unpredictable, explosive, revolutionary, life-changing, etc. The opposition between Jupiter and Pluto and the square out to Uranus and this new Moon shows this new Moon heralding the cardinal grand cross that is coming later on in April. In other words, it's going to be an interesting month. Anything we can do to relieve stress, let off steam or take the charge out of situations can help to move things forward in a smoother, more beneficial way.

The Sabian Symbol for the New Moon is Aries 10: A Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms To Traditional Images. This Symbol is very much about 'rewriting your story' or 'rewriting the book'. I have this degree in my chart and I see it very much as the work that I do with the Sabian Symbols = I have taken something and rewritten it in some way. The pic to the left above is a drawing from Walter Russell's scientific postulations (there's a big word ! :) ). Russell had the ability to see what others could perhaps not... he was a genius along the lines of Nikola Tesla.

The following is my take on Aries 10 and is taken from my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom:

This Symbol shows someone who can take a thing or a situation and transform and update it. The ‘Traditional Images’ can be ideas, objects, icons, beliefs; things we are familiar with. That a ‘Teacher Gives New Symbolic Forms’ shows the ability to restructure, reinterpret and present them more in tune with the times. It indicates a need for a fresh and revitalized perspective on things. This is what Marc Edmund Jones and Elsie Wheeler did with the Sabian Symbol “experiment”. Dane Rudhyar took the Symbols a step further, giving them further depth and insight.

In the situation facing you there’s a need to analyze and perhaps rewrite what has been observed and learned in the traditional roles we live out. Things may need a new interpretation to bring them up to speed with today’s thinking. Someone in this situation may have truly original ideas, but there’s a possibility of holding these back, feeling it has all been done before. The message here is to allow yourself to be creative and look for modern answers, seeing things in a different light or from a different angle. This may lead to realizations you have never even considered or imagined. Bringing out something new will revitalize your situation and affect those around you. This can bring new understandings about people and the way things work. There could be a revisioning of how one sees something like marriage, work, relationships, education etc. Sometimes this requires one to be daring, to “step outside the box”. Don’t stick to limitations of your own or those others place on you. You may have to make a stand against those in a higher or more exalted position that think they know more than you - perhaps they don’t. Be prepared to take a different stance or look at things from a new and fresh perspective.

Keywords: New dimensions breaking old thought forms or behavior. Quantum science. Innovation and re-creation. Working with educational tools. Finding new inspiration. Being “ahead of one’s time”. New-age consciousness. Ideas out of the past for the future. Sticking one’s neck out. Rewriting the book.

The Caution: Rejecting old ideas because they are old instead of reforming them. Throwing things of worth out, without examining them. Having little respect for things that are really worthwhile or traditional. Sticking with the tried and true, no matter what. Thinking that no one will be interested in your ideas.

The Karmic Condition (the degree before) this new Moon is Aries 9: A Seer Gazes Intently Into A Crystal Ball Before Him.

The only limits are, as always, those of vision. James Broughton

We are always in search of the redeeming formula, the crystallizing thought. Etty Hillesum

People who see a drawing in the “New Yorker” will think automatically that it’s funny because it is a cartoon. If they see it in a museum, they think it is artistic; and if they find it in a fortune cookie they think it is a prediction. Saul Steinberg

Everyone sees the unseen in proportion to the clarity of his heart, and that depends upon how much he has polished it. Whoever has polished it more sees more — more unseen forms become manifest to him. Jalal-Uddin Rumi

Keywords: Flashes of inspiration. Tuning in and looking within for answers. Creative visualizations. Aura readings. Cutting through irrelevant messages. Looking carefully at structure. Seeking perfection. Clairvoyance. Illumination and deep insights. Looking ahead to see the signs.

Cinema, radio, television, magazines are a school of inattention: people look without seeing, listen in without hearing. Robert Bresson

The Caution: Confused by literal meanings. Not seeing the symbolic message. Always looking this way and that, not at the center. Getting lost in the big picture. Daydreaming and ignoring what’s really going on. Obsessing over what may happen. Needing to know what’s coming up. Being impatient.

The Quest Symbol for this new Moon is Aries 11: The President Of The Republic Or The Ruler Of One's Country.

No man is free who is not a master of himself. Epictetus

It is a strange desire to seek power and to lose liberty. Francis Bacon

Keywords: Developing willpower. Inner power, discipline and integrity. Discipline of thoughts, emotions and actions. Leadership, power and ability along with their responsibilities. Accepting responsibility for one’s actions. “Calling the shots”. Rulers, presidents, leaders. Taking charge. The need for loyal subjects.

The Caution: Taking control. Lording it over everyone. Being overbearing. Not allowing others to be in charge of their own lives, health or situation. Egotistical and self-centered. Undermining others through a lack of self-awareness or confidence. Being larger than life. Dictators and tyrants.

To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right. Confucius

Mars, the ruler of this Aries new Moon, is retrograde in Libra (it is not particularly comfortable in this situation - both in Libra and retrograde). The Sabian Symbol is Libra 23: Chanticleer's Voice Heralds The Rising Sun With Enthusiastic Tones.

Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark. Rabindranath Tagore

Determination is the wake-up call to the human will. Anthony Robbins

Keywords: Anticipating new opportunities. Waking early. Being a morning person. Having a clear, beautiful or loud voice. Speaking up when it’s needed. Heralding the new age. Seeing things ahead of their time. Being attuned to cosmic forces. Change or renewal. Someone associated with new things. Always being on the go. Being eternally vigilant. Alarms that spur to action.

The Caution: Overstating ones role, talents or abilities. Needing a wake-up call (literally and symbolically). Crowing about things...disturbing others. Being noisy when others are trying to sleep. Loud and irritating. Narcissistic.

Mercury is on Pisces 18: In A Huge Tent A Famous Revivalist Conducts His Meeting With A Spectacular Performance. Mercury here is interesting in the light of the fact that it has quite a lot to say, rather like Mars on the 'Chanticleer' (rooster) degree.

Keywords: Energy and inspiration. Evangelism. Whipped up emotions. Having a lot to say. Being instructional and dogmatic about how things should be. Being in charge. Ecstasy. Loud voices. Conversations that are said out loud. Acoustics affecting sounds. Evangelism. Preaching. Mind control. Performing. Political, religious and spiritual activism. Showmanship. Transformative experiences. Captivated audiences. The media circus.

The Caution: Using spiritualism for greedy financial gain. Overblown feelings of one’s abilities. Big egos. Hysteria. People whipped-up and manipulated by those in charge. Having the agenda of controlling others. Feeling that one has all the answers. Getting het-up about ideals and beliefs. Manipulation and exploitation. Bigotry.

Venus is on Aquarius 24: A Man Turning His Back On His Passions Teaches Deep Wisdom From His Experience. This new Moon may for some signal a time to turn their back on a situation, a person, a job, a memory, a belief or whatever, and look at things from a different perspective. This follows up on the Symbol for the new Moon... what is the new perspective you could have on something or someone? Is it time to let go of something or someone? This can prove to be hard, especially if you've invested a lot of time and energy into something, but there can be a freeing up of old patterns and situations and that can lead you in new directions. The issue is balance here.

Keywords: Conquering one’s base nature. Changing through maturing realizations. Learning lessons the hard way. Realizing it’s time to let go of things that once mattered. Being an example so others may learn. Reforming one’s ways. Dignity. Guidance. Turning around. Dropping the lower ego or society. Leading a monastic life.

The Caution: Giving up on emotional growth. Being dissatisfied with life. Being forced to perform for another’s benefit. Sticking to things that are no longer worthwhile. Stubborn refusal to move forward. Misguiding others. Severe reactions.

Jupiter is on a fascinating degree. It's Cancer 12: A Chinese Woman Nursing A Baby Whose Aura Reveals Him To Be The Reincarnation Of A Great Teacher. This speaks of the innate genius and beauty in even the youngest, simplest and immature beginnings and people. Jupiter seems to be asking us to recognise the greatness not only in others, but in ourselves, and, also, in nature and the world around us. Curiously, we will no doubt also find issues to do with China and the Chinese will come up with this degree highlighted. It shows a range of things from nannying, nursing, nourishing, nurturing and recognising talent, ability and beauty.

Keywords: Nurturing innocence and its rewards. Reincarnation and past lives. Charisma and presence. Channeling entities. Tibetan mysteries. Monks and the Dalai Lama. Ancient knowledge. Child prodigies. Seeing greatness ahead of its time. The Indigo children. Discovering latent talent. Visions. Holistic perceptions. Potential. Nurses. Nannies. Finding the one.

The photograph to the right was taken last year in Byron Bay, at Suffolk Park right near the Tea Tree Lake. It is an astounding picture - it was formed through sea and lake water and sand (it was not drawn or made). Looking at the image on the day with the naked eye, it was very clearly a woman in a blue blousey shirt, wearing a red hat holding a small baby who had a green cap. The baby was looking over the woman's shoulder. The woman had a big, billowing skirt on and her feet were off to the side. A trickle of water had come through this 'picture', right through the baby's head, leaving a trail that looked like some kind of 'illumination'. It was extremely striking.

Once the picture was uploaded onto the computer into Picasa, a fish could clearly be seen. Immediately when I saw this image on the beach, I knew that this was an image of Cancer 12: A Chinese Woman Nursing A Baby Whose Aura Reveals Him To Be The Reincarnation Of A Great Teacher. This picture absolutely blew my mind. (Photo taken by Alan Chalmers.)

The Caution: Not seeing the beauty of youngsters. Being overcome with complexity. Demanding to be recognized. Not seeing the inherent greatness in simple things. Under or over estimating the potential of youth. Pushy and demanding young people.

Saturn is on an interesting degree that speaks of growing, maturing, transmuting and transforming (or perhaps the need for these things). Saturn is on Scorpio 23: A Rabbit Metamorphosed Into A Nature Spirit. Venus being square Saturn at this new Moon shows a double whammy that some relationships and friendships may be left behind. It may be time to review how much energy one puts into situations that provide no return or reward or perhaps feel as though they have no future. By raising one's energies to a higher plane, we can rise above problems in order to either escape from them or to get a better perspective of what is (or was) really going on. Of course, Venus and Saturn square can also show people committing to relationships on a deeper, more permanent basis. If something is right, and feels right, it can become deeper and more meaningful, but, if there's big doubts, obstacles or lack of any kind of commitment, people may find themselves parting ways.

Keywords: Revelation of hidden talents. Vegetarianism. Changing one’s lifestyle completely. Rapid and total transformation. Morphing. Giving up merely battling for survival. Ascension of consciousness. Elementals. Evolution. Moving into a new level of being. Raising one’s vibration.

The Caution: Being dissatisfied with transformation as not economically useful. Feeling ineffective or impotent, having one’s sexual power taken away. Feeling de-sexed or ‘neutered’. Losing one’s drive or libido. Feeling alone and misunderstood.

Uranus is just two degrees away from this new Moon, which means that it is very highlighted = this will be quite a 'Uranian' new Moon. This can mean we can feel cut off, strange, suffer from sleepless nights, feel wide awake and then unaccountably sleepy, feeling like an alien in a strange land, wanting to go on strike, protest, yell and scream or just generally flail around.

Uranus is on Aries 13: A Bomb Which Failed To Explode Is Now Safely Hidden From Discovery. Basically, this is Uranus (the planet of electricity, sudden events, explosions, etc) on a degree of explosions (or, as the degree suggests, defusing - both are equally possible)... as usual with Uranus, it is very difficult to know what is going to happen, but it is certain that some 'bombs' will go off. Some may be hidden away or covered up and they may escape detection or detonation. It can also be a case of "look over there".... while something is happening right under our noses over here.

Keywords: Pressure valves. Getting away with something. Tantrums and frustration. Tempers that simmer. Explosive behavior. Bombs, explosions. Sudden and forceful events. Intelligence organizations, CIA, FBI, ASIO, etc. Valuable lessons of self-restraint. Relief from problems. Discharging nervous energy.

The Caution: Suppressing stress or illness. Doing inappropriate things and thinking the secret safe. Repressing emotions. Undefined anger. Pressure cooker energy that needs to be released slowly. Explosions damaging more than expected. Activists. Deception behind one’s back. Clash of ideals.

Neptune is on Pisces 7: Illuminated By A Shaft Of Light, A Cross Lies On Rocks Surrounded By Sea and Mist. This degree is showing up in Australia in that we're having a Royal Commission (which is a very long, involved, expensive, legal investigation) into the sexual abuse of children in institutions, particularly in the Catholic Church. There have been some massive revelations in the last few weeks and now a cardinal, Cardinal Pell, from Sydney, is on the stand. He is soon to take up a major post at the Vatican, handling the Vatican's money... and he is embroiled in a major scandal here. More than that, though, there are things that we are hearing every single day that are disappointing and can lead to a feeling of despair over the future. In Australia, this is the degree of the Moon in the swearing in of the new Abbott government, but that is a story for another time (that is a pun, for those who know what's going on here).

Keywords: Renewed dedication after loss. Looking for signs of hope and recovery. Coming to terms with loss or failure. Rocks, mist, howling winds on coasts. Crosses of faith. Important and substantial sacrifices. Being devastated by events. Being in the “spotlight” in difficult times. Finding the way through the dark. The need for sacrifice. Alternative religions. Stepping outside religious boundaries.

The Caution: Lost faith. Hopes dashed. Giving up. Being shattered by the constraints of life. Depression. Feeling like one is being sacrificed, sometimes for nothing. Unable to see through the fog. Scorn, persecution and attack because of religious or social reasons. Hopelessness. Things grim, dark and foreboding.

Pluto is on Capricorn 14: An Ancient Bas-Relief Carved In Granite Remains A Witness To A Long-Forgotten Culture. We are seeing a lot about ancient 'cultures', ancient cities, being found; underwater, underground and in places where nothing was seen previously. We are also, in some instances, being dragged back into the past, politically, socially and in many ways. And this Symbol speaks of things written in stone. It would be nice to think that the 'plutocracy' are becoming a relic, a caricature of themselves. Pluto is making enormous waves, for sure, with the opposition to Jupiter and the square to Uranus and the new Moon.

Keywords: Anonymous immortality. Things written or carved in stone, or concrete. Permanent records. Clues from the past. Things that should be shaped and changed with the times. Pieces of art or sculpture. Things that belong in a museum. Inscriptions and carvings. Ancient civilizations and their relics.

The Caution: Limitations that don’t allow for changes. Old and outworn situations. Things carved in stone that cannot, or will not, ever change. Memories out of the past that keep one frozen in time. Feeling stuck, like no growth is possible. Frigidity of feelings because of things that have happened.

The push me - pull you nature of the t-square is very dynamic and there is bound to be a lot of pressure and some things may come to a breaking point in amongst it. We may even feel, in some instances, that we are losing our culture in some way... like the life is being squeezed out of something that was once precious, vital and life-sustaining. Relief will come soon, but for the time being, for the next few months in fact, life may feel like it's on hold while we rearrange some of our priorities and life falls more into line with possibilities. This is especially true with both Mars and Saturn retrograde for the next few months.

The Moon's north node is on Libra 29 and it is conjunct Ceres (on the same degree). The Symbol is Mankind's Vast Enduring Effort To Reach For Knowledge Transferable From Generation To Generation.

Children wish fathers looked but with their eyes; fathers that children with their judgment looked; and either may be wrong. William Shakespeare

Keywords: Interpreting and conveying beliefs and ideas. The desire to pass on something to others. Handing down possessions or knowledge. Knowledge being changed, modified or updated. Teaching by example. The wisdom of the ancestors. Research into history. Striving for answers. Books and the spoken word. Encyclopedias and reference books. The gift of knowledge.

The Caution: A belief that one knows it all. Information, knowledge or riches inherited by only the select few. Reliance on tradition. Fundamentalism. Doing what’s always been done, regardless of why.

The Moon's south node is on a fabulous degree that often speaks about astrology and music. It's Aries 29: The Music Of The Spheres. The Mountain Astrologer has just released an edition of their fabulous magazine with the theme of music. Noticing harmonies, songs, the music of birds, the sounds of nature or silence can attune us to our spiritual source, often in surprising ways.

Keywords: Voices bringing messages. Attuning to the messages inherent in astrology. Harmonies, chords, keys, octaves. Things heard. Natural harmony of life. The beauty of the planets. The measurement of time. Circadian rhythms. Dancing to the wind. The humming of bees. Days of the week. The sound of water over rocks or crystals. The planets speaking through or to you. Sending love.

The Caution: Inflating rational ideas. Delusion or enlightenment? Getting lost in abstractions. Rejecting what’s obvious on an intuitive level in favor of more intellectual answers.

Chiron, the Wounded Healer and The Stories We Tell Ourselves is on Pisces 16: In A Quiet Moment, A Creative Individual Experiences The Flow Of Inspiration.

Keywords: Creativity inspired from above. Openness to higher forces and ideals. Realizations. Dreams. Channeling thoughts and feelings. Messages from one’s higher self. Finding solutions. Moments of calm leading to resolutions. Free flowing thoughts. The gift of inspiration. Turning on the tap of creativity. Blockages unblocked.

The Caution: Being too tired to concentrate or meditate. Choosing to be unaware or to sleep instead of thinking purposefully. Not talking about what needs to be said. Having a lot of ideas that don’t translate into reality. Shutting off from others. Loud voices in the head.

This is a dynamic new Moon and one that will have many of us rewriting our lives in some fashion - or, at least, seeing a new mode of living or being or accepting the world.
