All security agencies in Sabah, especially in the Eastern Sabah Security Zone have been told to further strengthen cooperation and coordination to address any threat, especially cross-border crime, infringement, smuggling and kidnapping.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman urged all security agencies to act more proactively and improve intelligence capabilities, including strengthening cooperation with security agencies in neighbouring countries.

“We are also aware of the latest developments in neighbouring countries and are always prepared to face any eventuality.

“This follows groups from the Philippines infiltrating the country, following military action by the Philippine Government in the fight against terrorist groups and kidnappers in the southern Philippines,” he said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu, today.

Musa, who is also state security committee chairman, said ‘predictive intelligence’ capabilities should be enhanced to identify threats at an early stage so that it could be addressed and resolved more quickly and effectively.
