NORTH WILKESBORO — The Skin Surgery Center announced the opening of North Wilkesboro Dermatology on Dec. 5. Dr. Kevin Stein, a longstanding physician with The Skin Surgery Center, along with two experienced physician assistants, will offer comprehensive medical and surgical dermatology services at this new location. The office is located at 532 W. Park Circle in North Wilkesboro. Office hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kevin Stein, MD joined The Skin Surgery Center in July of 2009. He treats medical and surgical dermatology problems, and he also offers multiple cosmetic skin problem solutions such as laser surgery, Botox, dermal fillers and sclerotherapy.
Stein earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown and graduated summa cum laude with bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and economics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville and a residency in dermatology at New York Medical College.
Stein has published numerous articles on such topics as the treatment of eczema, psoriasis and drug-induced photoallergic and phototoxic reactions. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Dermatology Association Executive Committee, where he will serve as president in 2017.
Abigail S. Plonk, PA-C has been a certified physician assistant since 2006, and she has over 13 years of clinical experience caring for patients. She has been training with Stein in Winston-Salem, as well as the other dermatologists at The Skin Surgery Centers in Winston-Salem and Greensboro.
Plonk earned her Master of Medical Science degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to joining The Skin Surgery Center, Plonk worked as a physician assistant in the Winston-Salem and High Point medical communities. Plonk is a member of the Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.
Forrest S. Staton, PA-C has been a certified physician assistant since 2006, and she has over five years of experience caring for patients. She has been training with Stein in Winston-Salem, as well as the other dermatologists at The Skin Surgery Centers in Winston-Salem and Greensboro.
Staton earned her Master of Medical Science degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, and received her bachelor’s degree with cum laude honors from Wake Forest University.
Prior to joining The Skin Surgery Center, Staton worked as a physician assistant in the Winston-Salem medical community. Staton is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants.
The board-certified dermatologists and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons of The Skin Surgery Center have offices throughout the region, including Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Hickory, Mount Airy, Morganton, and Galax, Virginia. The addition of North Wilkesboro Dermatology will expand and enhance their mission to provide exceptional skin care, skin cancer detection, and skin cancer surgery in the Triad. Stein and his staff are very excited about the new North Wilkesboro location, and are looking forward to meeting the dermatology needs of the North Wilkesboro community and surrounding areas now, and in the years to come.
