• Members of the Yadkin Valley Rotary Club are now selling tickets for the annual New Year’s Day lunch at the First United Methodist Church, 340 Hawthorne Road, Elkin. The club will serve a traditional meal of country ham, collard greens, black-eyed peas, cornbread, coffee/tea and dessert. Serving hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Quart bags of collard greens may be purchased for $5 per bag. Also, drawings for free door prizes will be held every half hour during serving hours. Must be present to win. Proceeds from the lunch will benefit the club’s scholarship program.
