I must admit I am a bit sceptical about purchasing certain items online.
I'm talking about clothes and jewellery – stuff that I like to try on initially to see how they look.
Clothes are not a problem. I can surf the Next website for example, and if I see something I like, I can go to the shop and try it on.
Jewellery is different. I see plenty of beautiful items online, but they are sometimes only available online. Obviously, if I buy something and don't like it I can send it back, but you hear of so many internet scams these days I don't like to do this – maybe I'm being over-cautious.
To cut a long story short, I met up with a friend recently for coffee and catch-up, and I couldn't help but notice the attractive silver heart pendant that she was wearing.
It was hallmarked, and wasn't big or clunky – so cute!
When I complemented her on it, she told me that she had bought it on Amazon, and not only that, she had received a phone call a couple of days later from the lady who sold the pendant on Amazon, just to make sure she had received it and was happy with her purchase.
What fantastic customer service!
As I only see my friend occasionally, I asked her if she wouldn't mind if I also bought the pendant (our social lives and circle of friends are not the same so there wouldn't be an awkward clash, if you know what I'm saying.
So she gave me the Amazon details and I bought one, and I'm really happy with it. And guess what – I also had a call from the lady who I bought off, making sure I'd received it OK etc.
I wish all online retailers provided this level of customer care!
