Happy Monday everyone (or happy whatever day you read this). I hope y’all have had a wonderful week. How’s it going with your fitness goals? Getting any exercise? Sign up for any races? Break any kitchen-dancing or hula-hoop records?
I hope so, because this week I was the one exercising vicariously through you. Oh I was busy alright, and I did plenty of running, just the kind of running around like a chicken with no head, just not the kind of cardio that my training plan dictated. I did some traveling, saw some family, splurged on food, stayed up too late and then slept too late … why is it when we go back home and stay with our parents that we automatically regress back to our teenage years even when we’re well into our thirties? Before you know it, I’m going to be back to dressing like Madonna and listening to 80′s hair bands and trying to convince others why 80′s music wasn’t all that bad.
I had a good time though. I hadn’t been back home since my mom died, so it was … different … but not necessarily bad. Unless you’re training for a marathon, because, as I mentioned, I flaked out on my runs this weekend.
No matter, because I decided to switch up my training plan anyway. I had used a training plan for last year’s marathon that had me running five days a week, so I felt that I needed to do another 5 day a week plan. Rather, my ego felt I needed to do the same type of plan. Like if I did fewer miles or fewer days of training, that somehow it would be a sign of failure or weakness. After sticking with the plan for a month though, I am just worn out. I guess my body isn’t getting any younger, damn! So I’m telling my ego to shove it, and I’m going to step back to a four-day a week training plan.
I can deal with change … as long as I have music (via Pinterest.com)
And I’m perfectly okay with that. In fact, I’m really looking forward to having an extra rest day. It should give me a little bit more energy on my other runs … quality over quantity, train smarter not harder, type of thing, I hope.
The timing works pretty well too, because I think I decided on a marathon to do in November, and it’s exactly 18 weeks out. Deja vu, huh? Here we go again!
SHOUT-OUTS:
Thank you so much to Josie for recently sharing her fitness story. If you missed her guest post, be sure to check it out HERE.
How’s it going with your training or exercise? You tell me. Anything you’re really proud about? Feel free to brag!
PLAN AND GOAL:
I’m not 100% sure. I know I’ll have four runs this week; I’ll probably do a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday schedule, with my long run on Sunday.
MOTIVATIONAL PIC:
Short shorts in the snow–Canadians sure are fierce! (via I<3torun)

A QUICK QUESTION:
My first ever poll… I’d like to know how you prefer to see/listen to music shares here. Would you rather see an embedded video that you can watch from within the blog, or would you rather just click a link and watch it in a YouTube window? I usually embed the videos, but I know they take up a lot of screen space and create a lot of scrolling if you’re not interested in watching the videos. But they’re convenient too, and easier to watch from within the blog, so it’s a toss-up I guess. What’s your preference?

DANCING VIDEO:
Did you ever see Little Miss Sunshine? (Trailer HERE ) Man, I love this wild, crazy, dysfunctional family. This is one of my favorite movie scenes:
MUSIC:
I was having a couple of edgy weeks before my trip, maybe it was that dang Supermoon? I find myself listening to edgier, harder songs when I run “in a mood.” These are a bit edgier than my usual shares, and I’ll go ahead and assign an NSFW (not safe for work or young ears) warning to all of them. But if you’re in a pissy mood or you like the harder stuff, some of these songs should really click with you.
I am still just a … (from pinterest.com)
