I don’t know about you, but I’m always fascinated to see the weddings of wedding photographers. When you see dozens of weddings per year, it really seems to help you hone in on exactly where you want to keep the focus – on your love for each other, and for your friends and family. Bride Mary is a Virginia wedding photographer who hired the talented Sarah Der Photography to photograph her own wedding, which just so happened to turn out even more beautiful than we could imagine.

From the bride, Mary: Wade and I got engaged on Ash Wednesday of 2013. Not exactly normal, but the timing was right. We talked about our wedding for a month before setting dates or making any major decisions. We took a walk one day and talked about what we wanted our wedding to be about. As a wedding photographer, I attend over 30 weddings a year. I see so many beautiful and creative visions but I didn’t want to be chasing after a pinterest wedding. We knew we wanted our wedding to be about the Lord and our guests. So with these things in mind we set out to have a laid back affair that had a “there you are!” mentality. We wanted the day to be as much about the relationships that have made us who we are – as the relationship we have with one another.
