Last summer, we learned about Cheetos-encrusted sushi burritos and we were…sort of grossed out. It seemed like too many flavors plus the compartmentalization of the ingredients meant it would be hard to enjoy it all at once — especially compared to a bite-sized piece from a roll. Of course, after sushi burritos the next logical step is sushi tacos and while we were ready to dismiss them, too, we have to admit, we’re a tad impressed.
California-based pop-up restaurant Norigami Tacos created the unique tacos using tempura-fried nori — that’s the delicious seaweed that’s a staple in Japanese cooking. The shells are then filled with Asian-inspired ingredients, resulting in mouth-watering sushi tacos and even overstuffed ramen tacos loaded with noodles and meat.
