2008

Tony Beltran (3)

He's probably the best draft pick Real Salt Lake has made: Tony Beltran, right back, is a single match away from reaching 100 starts for the club. In his rookie year, he made 10 starts; in 2012, he made more appearances and starts than any other RSL player. In five seasons, he's gone from a promising young player to a national team candidate - at only 25, he's got plenty of time ahead of him to take that even further. Current club: Real Salt Lake

David Horst (14)

Horst found playing time at Real Salt Lake difficult to come by, although time on loan at Austin Aztex and Puerto Rico Islanders did him well. But for the expansion draft in 2010, in which he was picked up by Portland Timbers, he may well have had a chance at Real Salt Lake. He's done reasonably well for the Timbers since joining. Current club: Portland Timbers

Alex Nimo (17)

Alex Nimo, a Generation Adidas draft pick, didn't see league action at Real Salt Lake, and there was always a sense that he had some real promise. He was sent on loan to Portland Timbers in 2010. Current club: Unattached. Last at Estonian club JK Tammeka Tartu.

Brennan Tennelle (37)

Tennelle was waived at some point and later played indoor soccer. Status: Coach at FC San Diego?

Supplemental Draft

Tino Nuñez (17)

After two years with the club and some time spent on loan, Nuñez was released during the 2010 preseason. Once again, a player of promise, but he never quite made it into the team with any frequency. He also apparently played with the U.S. Beach Soccer national team. Current club: Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL-Pro)

Kevin Reiman (31)

Reiman was apparently released by Real Salt Lake during 2009 preseason and played for the reserves. He is now apparently an assistant men's soccer coach at Army. A bit comically, his profile on the Army site praises him for helping RSL reach the 2008 Western Conference finals, though it doesn't mention that he failed to make an appearance for the club. Status: Assistant coach at Army.

Kenny Anaba (45)

Anaba didn't make it through preseason after being drafted by Real Salt Lake. Current club: Unknown. Last known to be playing at Hurcán Futbol Club in the Puerto Rico Soccer League.

2007

Chris Seitz (4)

Seitz - Seitzy, as some affectionally called him - saw seven matches for us in three years. As he was behind Nick Rimando, that's not really surprising. He's almost destined to be a backup goalkeeper, but he's not really a bad one. He deserves a fair bit of recognition for ending his 2012 campaign early to become a bone marrow donor. An inspiring story if there ever was one. Current club: FC Dallas.

Steven Curfman (30)

Curfman joined Real Salt Lake in 2007 and was waived at the end of the year without having played any minutes. He found his level a bit lower than that, it seems, as he joined Carolina Railhawks and Wilmington Hammerheads before joining amateur side CASL Elite. Current club: Unknown. Last known club: CASL Elite (Capital Area Soccer League, USASA).

Supplemental Draft

Haddon Kirk (17)

We drafted Haddon Kirk, a big defender, and released him in Feb. 2007. There's not much more I know, I'm afraid. Status: Almost definitely not in soccer.

Jared Kent (28)

Jared Kent: Drafted in Jan. 2007, released in Feb. 2007. Status: Unknown.

Kyle Reynish (43)

Ah, Kyle Reynish. He's been a loyal backup at Real Salt Lake since being drafted, and though his performances haven't always been perfect, he's never lost a regular season match. US Open Cup, on the other hand - that's a different story. Current club: Unattached, but expected to be in preseason camp with Real Salt Lake.

Dustin Kirby (49)

Kirby was a development player waived after the 2007 season - he saw some time on the bench as a center back substitute and even played in two matches. Status: Unknown.

2006

Mehdi Ballouchy (2)

Part of the biggest coup in Major League Soccer as he was traded to Colorado Rapids in exchange for Kyle Beckerman, Ballouchy was part of a weak Real Salt Lake side in 2006. The guy we got for him is our captain. Enough said, right? Current club: San Jose Earthquakes.

Ryan Johnson (26)

Ryan Johnson played in seven matches for Real Salt Lake before being traded to Chicago Fire. He also spent time in Europe and with a New Jersey indoor team before ending up back in the states at San Jose Earthquakes. Current club: Portland Timbers.

Supplemental Draft

Jeff Rowland (2)

Rowland battled through injury during his time at RSL, then played for FC Dallas in 2008. He never saw time in a regular season match. Rowland is currently an assistant coach at University of Washington men's soccer team, it would seem.

Willis Forko (14)

Forko made 38 appearances for RSL and left at end of 2007 season for Norway. He's since come back to North America, played for Vancouver Whitecaps (USSF-D2) in 2010, and once appeared against RSL in 2012 preseason - for New York Red Bulls. Status: unknown

Chase Harrison (26)

Harrison, a goalkeeper, was drafted but didn't play and was cut at the end of 2006. He last played for Philadelphia Union, but he then played only one match. He also saw time at DC United and Columbus Crew, both without playing a match. Status: unknown.

Chris Lancos (41)

Instead of signing with Real Salt Lake, Lancos went to FC Kaiserslautern's youth squad ... but in 2007 came back to MLS and signed with Real Salt Lake. The defender lasted only the season, and he's since gone on to work in business.

2005

Nikolas Besagno (1)

Still only 24, Besagno is plying his trade at Washington Crossfire in the USL Premier Development League. He was, at the time, the second-youngest player to be drafted - behind Freddy Adu. Current Club: Washington Crossfire (USL PDL).

Jamie Watson (13)

Jamie Watson was an interesting character, and he certainly made some fans with his off-the-field personality. 38 appearances for RSL isn't a bad measure, but he later went on to FC Dallas. He's still plying his trade in the U.S., and every now and then, news of a goal floats on down the wires. Current Club: Orlando City SC.

Jay Nolly (22)

Nolly, a goalkeeper, last played for Chicago Fire and saw good time at the pre-MLS Vancouver Whitecaps. He was sent to DC United from Salt Lake in a deal for Freddy Adu and Nick Rimando. Half of that seems to have come off pretty well. Current club: Unattached.

Luke Kreamalmeyer (37)

Kreamalmeyer was waived from Real Salt Lake, then played at Portland Timbers (USL) and seems to have done well, but later went on to Charlestown Battery and AC St. Louis. He also apparently trialled at New England Revolution. Last club: Montreal Impact (NASL, 2011).

Supplemental Draft

Steven Rhyne (1)

Apparently, he is now a sales representative for Southeastern Paper Group.

Mike Lookingland (13)

Not much is known about Lookingland, really. Current club: Baltimore Blast. Assistant coach, Baltimore Bohemians, USL Premier Development League

Noah Palmer (25)

Made 10 appearances for Columbus Crew after being traded there, but never did much for us. I think he is currently working for in San Francisco, if LinkedIn is to be believed.

Cameron Knowles (37)

Knowles made 4 appearances for RSL, apparently. He retired in 2011 after playing with Montreal Impact ... played consistently USL Portland Timbers from 2007 to 2010.
