Let me start with their name. It’s pronounced “pub-li-cus.” Publicus is a Latin word meaning “of the people, public, open to all.”
I was intrigued by this place. I didn’t know what to expect when I walked in, and I was excited to see that the decor is creative, inviting and looked like a restaurant you would find in larger cities like LA or NY.
The dining situation is community style and tables feature trees growing through the middle of them, which creates a welcoming and unique environment.
For prepared foods, PublicUs has a walk-up system where diners order at a counter from a daily printed menu and a number of on-display salads and sides they dub “The Kitchen Table.”
I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and a Thai salad with a lemonade, all of which was incredible. Everything was delicious.
This place is known for its coffee, sandwiches and brunch, which range from a $7 waffle dish to fried chicken for $14. High-quality, farm fresh ingredients with a price that won’t break the bank.
Their menu has a great selection of breakfast and lunch items perfect for a quick meal.
They have the look and feel of a downtown Seattle or Portland eatery, but I’m so glad it’s in Las Vegas!
PublicUS describes itself as “a canteen-style, neighborhood restaurant and coffee bar,” and is located in the Fremont East District of Downtown Las Vegas, several blocks east of Fremont Street Experience, past Atomic Liquors and Bunkhouse. Also, they have a parking lot in back which is convenient for the area.
A great way to meet new people, this place is the cutest thing ever! I love the vibe that it gives off. Total winner in the East Fremont area of Sin City.
The address is 1126 Fremont Street.
