Listen, sweetie darling, the much-hyped Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie is out next week and our heroine Eddie is in a teeny tiny spot of bother.

Having just killed Kate Moss –  it was an accident sweetie! – Pats and Eddie are on the run in the South of France and are hiding out in some amazingly luxurious hotels.

To celebrate the release of the new Ab Fab film, we’ve put together a list of our favourite absolutely fabulous hotels in the French Riviera.

Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez

Cannes

Situated on the elusive Boulevard de la Croisette, the Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel boasts everything Patsy and Eddie could want – beach front panoramic views, a stylish interior and a fully-stocked bar.

The hotel’s bar – Le Bar L’Amiral – is world renowned for its legendary status in the French Riviera and regularly plays host to the biggest stars and celebrity personalities. Fans of champagne and cocktails can enjoy a wide range of options from the bar’s expansive drinks menu – cheers sweetie!

The Suite des Oliviers was even used as a filming location for Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, and it’s easy to see why producers picked this suite. Boasting a fabulous art-deco design, separate living and dining rooms, a large marble bathroom and a private terrace, which boasts beautiful views over the clear blue Mediterranean Sea.

Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic

Cannes

Le Majestic is one of the Côte d’Azur’s most luxurious hotels and is found nestled along Cannes’ famous beachfront promenade, la Croisette. The hotel boasts its own private beach, where guests can take part in lots of different watersports or simply top up on their tan.

Of course our two heroines can only stay in one of the hotel’s finest rooms, enter the Junior Sea View Terrace Suite. The south-facing suite offers sunloungers and a breakfast table facing out to sea, as well as a spacious lounge and king-size bed with silky fabrics – this is truly the place to enjoy la dolce vita.

Hotel Negresco

Cannes

Sumptuous, exquisite and iconic are only some of the words that do Hotel Negresco justice. The beautiful hotel is found on Nice’s beachfront and is truly something to behold. The aristocratic design is a world away from Eddie’s modern clean-lined house in London but we’re sure our favourite twosome would enjoy it all the same.

Fitted with a mixture of contemporary and antique furniture and comfortable double-bed guests can relax in style – check out the ornate headboard!

Hotel de Paris

Saint Tropez

Encompassing all the things France is famous for – chic style, delicious food and even better wine – the Hotel de Paris is the ideal hideout spot for Pats and Eddie, as they wait for the whole killing Kate Moss thing to blow over.

The hotel’s pièce de résistance is its extraordinary pool which is suspended 15 metres above the Atrium and is made of fully transparent glass.

Fun Fact: Fashion icon and haute couture designer Coco Chanel was a regular guest at the hotel.

Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc

Antibes

Boasting miles of sandy beaches and secret coves, Antibes is a bit of a hidden gem along the Côte d’Azur. Loved amongst artists for its beautiful scenery and quiet seclusion, painters like Picasso, Matisse and Renoir have all stayed within the region – perfect for a magazine editor and a PR agent on the run.

The suites offer the best in old-world glamour and boast all the luxury Pats and Eddie would expect from their South of France hideaway. The Superior Rooms are located in the hotel’s original building and so offer a charming historical ambience. All of the Superior Rooms are sumptuously designed and feature antique furniture and beautiful marble bathrooms.

C2 Hotel

Marseille

Marrying modern design with classical architecture in the heart of Marseille, the C2 Hotel is absolutely fabulous. Recently renovated, the hotel exudes an air of luxury and is a top pick for anyone looking to enjoy the summer sun in France.

With only 20 rooms, guests can enjoy the hotel’s cosy boutique feel and pamper themselves in the modern spa without it being over-crowded. Managed by the skin specialists Filorga, the spa specialises in anti-aging treatments, with anti-wrinkle therapies proving to be exceptionally popular.
