OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - West Monroe Police Officer Jody Ledoux surrendered to authorities Monday morning just before 8:00 A.M. Ledoux was booked and has since posted bond. On Friday a grand jury indicted the officer in the December shooting death of Raymond Keith Martinez.

A Ouachita Parish Grand Jury took just a few hours to hand down an indictment against a West Monroe Police Officer in a fatal shooting.

The grand jury convened Friday morning to consider evidence in the shooting death of Raymond Martinez. Martinez, a homeless man, was shot to death by West Monroe Police Officer Jody Ledoux outside the Pik-Pak Convenience store on North 7th Street in West Monroe.

Ledoux has been on paid administrative leave since the December 4th shooting. Prosecutor Neal Johnson says he will now be charged with negligent homicide and be ordered to surrender to Ouachita Parish authorities.

Johnson says Ledoux is currently out of town and has made arrangements to turn himself in prior to 5:00 P.M. Monday. His bond has been set at $10,000. Ledoux is represented by attorney Micky DuBois.

Release from Assistant District Attorney Neal Johnson:

A Ouachita Parish Grand Jury returned an indictment today for 1 count of negligent homicide against West Monroe Police officer Jody Ledoux arising out of the December 4 shooting of Raymond Martinez. The case was presented by a combined effort by the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office and the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, together with the investigation by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office. Judge Fred Amman issued a warrant in the case and set bail at $10,000.00. Officer Ledoux was out of town, but has made arrangements to surrender on Monday. Handling the case for the District Attorney's Office was Neal G. Johnson, and for the La. Attorney General's Office was J. Michael Ruddick.

Comment: It is the policy of this office to not publicly comment on the evidence of matters before the court. An attempt was made to present all evidence available to he grand jury to consider in what was obviously a very difficult case. The grand jury has spoken on the matter, and we will act accordingly.
