Cluj-based travel company Eximtur became partner of Uniglobe Travel International global business travel network, Lucia Morariu, CEO Eximtur announced on Tuesday in a press conference.

For more than 30 years, Uniglobe has been a strong voice for the travel industry.

“Joining Uniglobe gives us access to an international management for business journeys system more efficient. Openness to cutting edge technology, software and booking systems that optimize prices and tariffs, better management of customers’ requests, access to suppliers very specialized and validated by the global network are the main advantages of membership in Uniglobe and we will transpose them in better services for our corporate customer,” CEO Eximtur stated.

Eximtur Business, the division specialized in providing integrated services for business travelers and events, was the most dynamic segment of the group in 2016, with sales growth of 16 percent over 2015. Eximtur Business has 35 specialized consultants serving 120 corporate clients, operating in four centers located in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara and Sibiu.

According to Lucia Morariu, Eximtur Business activity generated 69 percent of company’s overall sales in 2016. These good performances have spurred travel company management to join a global network of travel management to support Eximbank internationally and to represent Uniglobe in Romania.

“This partnership is advantageous for both sides. Our sphere of global action will bring significant benefits to Eximtur and its customers, while the strong renown that Eximtur has in Romania will strengthen our brand recognition locally,” Derek Hearl – Maunder, President & COO at Uniglobe Travel British Isles stated in a press release.

Established in 1993, Eximtur’s network owns 28 travel agencies and franchised agencies, in 19 cities in Romania. The company’s activity is dividend into four business segments: business travel and events, leisure travel, incoming, tourism school. At end-2016, the travel company had a total of 156 employees.

Eximtur recorded last year a turnover of EUR 47 million and a profit of EUR 300,000.

Uniglobe Travel International was founded by franchising entrepreneur U. Gary Charlwood in Vancouver, Canada in 1979. Its franchise model has quickly spread across Canada and the United States in the 1980s, Europe in the 1990s and Asia, Africa, The Middle East, Australasia and Central and South America in the new millennium.

Today, Uniglobe travel management companies (TMCs) and Global Partners serve small-to-mid-size corporate accounts and vacation travellers in more than 50 countries, with annual system-wide sales of approximately USD 4 billion.
