Emka group is a leading worldwide on locking technology. When the Romanian subsidiary was set up and how many employees does it comprise at the present moment? How do Emka products go on the Romanian local market?

The Romanian subsidiary, EMKA Beschlagteile SRL was established in 2007 in Sibiu, Romania and currently has 3 employees. Our high quality products are very well accepted in the local market and we increase our sales continually.

What ranges of your products and from what business units (industry, transport, electronics, production) are more profitable on the Romanian market?

At our business unit Industry, we are most successful on the Romanian market. In Romania, EMKA chiefly sells fewer complex systems with simple locks, hinges and seals. Here we offer a range of solutions for specific requirements.

What was the turnover for 2014 and what are the prospects for 2015?

In 2014, the EMKA Group achieved an turnover of about € 230 million. In the last year sales at Romania was approximately € 1 million with a rising upward trend.

What novelties do you have in store for 2016 in terms of products and services?

For 2016 we are planning a large variety of new products. EMKA offers special product solutions for the quick mounting. These allow for easy, tool-free handling, which not only saves time, but is also very easy to perform. Furthermore, EMKA offers at the business unit Electronics with the identification by fingerprint and with the invisible locking system solutions which are the highest level of security. In addition, we are planning to extend our product portfolio in the field of stainless steel.

As a German businessman in Romania, what do you think the Romanian business environment would need to be more competitive and more profitable for foreign investors generally speaker?

For a long-term success and being interesting for investors it is necessary to increase the awareness of quality in Romania continually. It is also important to improve and expand the infrastructure, and to promote a good education for covering the demand on skilled workers.
