Keeping dinner exciting, healthy, affordable, and simple is my constant challenge. I have a handful of go-to recipes that I make throughout the week, but admittedly my kids and I tire of eating the same meals. Lately I’ve been experimenting with sauces, spices and seasonings to transform simple mainstay ingredients, like seafood, into gourmet dishes.

This month, Walmart sent 6 grocery items as part of their monthly bundle, many of which could easily transform fish, chicken and beef without a lot of effort. One of my kids’ favorite dine-out dishes is orange chicken, so I decided to use Kikkoman’s Orange Sauce and a touch of Nando’s Peri Peri Sauce to create a Spicy Orange Shrimp Stir-Fry. Served over noodles, this dish boasts the perfect blend of sweet and spicy flavors and provides the perfect accent to shrimp.

Kikkoman’s Orange Sauce features soy sauce, orange juice concentrate, vinegar, garlic and onion and takes some of the time and effort out of preparing the signature dish. Nando’s Peri Peri Sauce includes a blend of lemons, onion, garlic, spices and African Bird’s Eye Chili. I used just a hint of this sauce to give my shrimp stir-fry a spicy kick. Remember that a little goes a long way, particularly if you will be creating this dish for your kids.

Here is what you’ll need for this Spicy Orange Shrimp Stir-Fry:

The orange sauce used in this recipe could easily be used to sauté vegetables for a complete meal. It can also be used for some meats including chicken. If you don’t like spice, you could omit it completely without changing the recipe.
