Despite the busyness of this season, there is something about Fall that I always find myself drawn to. I love how the evenings provide some reprieve from the warm summer days and how pumpkin spice can be found in everything from lattes and cheesecake to tortilla chips and pasta sauce. Every year we have a list of must-do’s and bucket list experiences, and Knott’s Spooky Farm always tops that list. We love this annual, family-friendly event celebrating Fall, Halloween, and The Great Pumpkin.
Every Fall around this time, my father and I would sit and watch It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! together. He was a huge Peanuts fan and we both loved and appreciated the film’s comedic approach to Halloween. This Fall, Knott’s Berry Farm celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Great Pumpkin with a not-too-spooky Halloween celebration every weekend in October. Throughout Ghost Town, Fiesta Village, Boardwalk Ballroom and Camp Snoopy, kids can get hands-on with a variety of engaging experiences including live entertainment, costume contests, and our personal favorite, trick-or-treating!
If you’re looking for a fun way to celebrate Halloween without the thrills and chills of some of the scarier, more traditional events, here are 5 Things You Must Do at Knott’s Spooky Farm!
Trick-or-treat throughout Ghost Town. Don your favorite costume and trick-or-treat with the friendly ghosts of Ghost Town. When you enter Knott’s Spooky Farm, you’ll receive a bag and a map detailing the locations where kids can get sweet treats. Insider Tip: If the stations towards the entrance of Ghost Town are crowded, head towards the train and trick-or-treat in reverse.
Take a photo with your favorite Peanuts character. Throughout the park, you’ll find the Peanuts gang dressed up in their favorite Halloween costumes. Insider Tip: You’ll find several characters right at the main entrance, inside Linus’ Great Pumpkin Patch, and at the Camp Snoopy Theatre/Spooky Hallow Maze.
Get up and dance! Each day during Knott’s Spooky Farm, kids can enter the Pumpkin Patch Costume Contest and then dance with the Peanuts gang. Insider Tip: There is only one time for this experience (3:45 pm) so be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early for the best spot!
Learn about Dia De Los Muertos. I absolutely love that Knott’s Berry Farm has expanded their activities in honor of this sacred Mexican holiday. Located in Fiesta Village, guests can learn about Dia De Los Muertos, decorate a festive cookie, and see artisan crafts from local vendors.
Enjoy a spooky sing-a-long. Returning this year is the popular Camp Snoopy Show “Monsters are Coming Charlie Brown.” Sing-a-long with the Peanuts gang as they dance and share their favorite Halloween songs.
Get an inside look at the spooky side of Halloween. Inside Boardwalk Ballroom, kids can explore the new Ghastly Gallery which features monsterpieces and a spooky show with Lucy as the star! You can also explore the spooky forest and find the headless horseman inside the Spooky Hallow Maze at Camp Snoopy. Insider Tip: Be sure to check your daily show schedule so you can coordinate your visit with the performance.
Bring home your very own pumpkin. In honor of The Great Pumpkin, Knott’s invites you to decorate your very own pumpkin inside Linus’ Great Pumpkin Patch. Note that there is a nominal fee for this activity.
