A 43-year-old man has been shot dead at a house in west Belfast.
The attack, at Glenwood Court in the Poleglass area, was reported to police at about 20:15 BST on Thursday.
Police have launched a murder investigation and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann said it “appeared someone went into a house here in Glenwood and shot someone – shot a man”.
She added: “The family have been coming up here, there’s been quite distraught scenes with the family trying to get in to see him.
“This brutal killing has achieved nothing other than plunging another family into grief and despair.”
The SDLP’s Alex Attwood said: “I completely condemn the latest barbaric attack on a man in west Belfast.
“These savage assaults had no place in our past and they have no place in our society today.”
People Before Profit Councillor Matt Collins said he was “deeply disturbed by this senseless and unjustifiable attack”.
