When industry giant Carnival took the 2,642-passenger Carnival Destiny out of service earlier this year for an extended makeover, it promised a transformation so complete that the vessel essentially would be new. And as can be seen in our latest cruise ship photo tour, in the carousel above, that wasn’t hyperbole.
Originally unveiled in 1996, the 17-year-old vessel — now renamed Carnival Sunshine — was almost completely gutted and rebuilt, and it now boasts almost all-new deck-top areas, a major expansion of dining options and re-imagined entertainment spaces. New cabins brought its capacity to 3,006.
