eek! I’m going to ask you to do something!

I work for the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, a 501©3 public charity located in Orange County, CA. We work with disadvantaged youth, school systems where the arts have been cut, people with Autism and Asperger’s, and the elderly, many who suffer from early onset dementia. It’s a proven fact that “creativity” is a muscle in your brain that needs exercising and the stronger that muscle is, the better you’re able to engage and work through the challenges that face us each and every day.

Each year, in May, we hold a fundraiser called the Red Dot Auction. It’s a silent auction to which artists from around the globe have donated a 12″ square work of art, we provide the canvas, but we don’t limit the media. We’ve had photographers, sculptors, watercolorists, mixed media, and digital artists contribute.

The thing that makes the event special, is that the art is signed on the reverse, so the bidders have no idea who has created what. They bid on what they love, and not because of the name. It’s our most successful fundraising event of the year.

Every year, Heritage Auctions in Dallas, provides us with an online pre-bidding platform that they market to their over 800,000 subscribers. Although the art is ‘anonymous’, a link is provided to a webpage of artist names and biographies of those who have contributed. Six years ago, when we first started the Red Dot Auction, 42 artists participated. In 2015 we had over 235 artists participating.

I’m asking all of the many talented people who follow me to consider donating a work of art to the 2016 Red Dot Auction to be held May 12 and May 13, 2016 at the Center. If you’d like to do so, please message me and I’ll get a canvas to you. Deadline for art is January 31, 2016. You may read the official “Call for Art” at ChuckJonesCenter.org. Like us on Facebook: Facebook.com/RedDotAuction.

I hope you’ll participate and share this with your followers.
