Thank you to ALL who are making this Thanksgiving special at Columbus House

Mike Newton of KBE Building Corporation came by our Middlesex Family Shelter on Saturday, November 23rd, with 7 of KBE’s “Gifts of Gobble” - complete turkey dinners – for families in the emergency shelter. KBE donated a total of 20 “Gifts of Gobble” dinners to Columbus House, as part of their state-wide initiative. Pictured are Mike and one of his two sons who joined him in the delivery.

We have much to be THANKFUL for at Columbus House this Thanksgiving!

There are many other exciting happenings going on around Columbus House thanks to our generous supporters. We were, once again, the proud recipients of KBE Building Corporation’s ”Gift of Gobble” Thanksgiving Dinner Donation. Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center employees conducted a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit families at our Middlesex Family Shelter. St. George Church of Guilford will again be cooking Thanksgiving breakfast and dinner at both our Main Shelter and Overflow Shelter.CRN International of Hamden will be baking and delievering 200 cupcakes at both Shelters. Our good friends at St. Therese Church of Branford will be providing a Thanksgiving dinner at Recovery House. Additionlly, Columbus House welcomesSOUND Proof once again this year for their Thanksgiving Eve chorale performance at our Main Shelter.

THANK YOU TO ALL!!!

Harkness House for homeless Veterans

Thank you to Sikorsky Aircraft and Knights of Columbus Hon. W. Patrick Donlin Assembly #2459!

Harkness House, our transitional housing program that provides support to 14 male Veterans, has received tremendous support over the past month. On October 25th,Sikorsky’s Contracts & Counsel team presented Harkness House with a check for $15,686.95. The money is a portion of the proceeds of Sikorsky’s annual “Homerun for Heroes” Bridgeport Bluefish baseball game. On November 4th the Knights of Columbus Hon. W. Patrick Donlin Assembly #2459 held a flag raising ceremony at Harkness House and presented us with a check for $5000, the proceeds from their September 11th golf tournament. The Knights dedicated a plaque at the base of Harkness House’s flag pole during the ceremony. The plaque reads “In support of those that have served our country.”

We are grateful to have the support of these two generous organizations and are thrilled to have them as partners in our goal to ending Veteran homelessness!

Yale-New Haven Hospital collects over 270 Welcome Kits!

We were left speechless on November 22nd as the Mutual Respect Committee at Yale-New Haven Hospital arrived and unloaded 141 WelcomeKits that they collected from their St. Raphael’s Campus. Even more amazing is that they will soon be bringing over 130 more from their Yale New Haven Campus! Because of this incredibly generous effort, over 270 individuals and families moving out of homelessness will receive a warm welcome into their new homes with the gift of much needed household necessities. We cannot thank the Mutual Respect Committee at YNHH and their coworkers enough for this remarkable show of support and partnership!
