Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of A.C. Gilbert’s patent for the Erector Set! Gilbert received a patent for the Erector Set on July 8, 1913. Using sidewalk chalk on the Museum’s plaza, children and families are invited to design structures based on ones built with Erector Sets and learn more about Gilbert’s company in New Haven. There will also be contemporary Erector Sets for children and families to try out!

Experienced genealogists from the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council will offer individual consultations and advice on challenges in tracing family histories. Consultants available during the Roadshow are Virginia Banerjee, Claire Ammon, Nora Galvin, Penny Hartzell, Greg Thompson, and Olivia Patch.
Twenty-five-minute appointments are available on the hour and half hour with each of the six consultants.

New Haven was once home to a bustling oyster industry, which, at its height, exported thousands of gallons of shucked oysters daily. Revisit the bygone days of a shoreline dotted with oyster houses and sharpies at the next “In Season” talk at the Pardee-Morris House.
Timothy Visel, Coordinator at The Sound School Regional Vocational Aquaculture Center in New Haven, Visel will share the history of the oyster industry in New Haven while explaining the impact of climate on the industry and deciphering its decline.
“In Season” is a new series of talks that will take place on the second Sunday of each month in the summer at the Pardee-Morris House, located at 325 Lighthouse Road. Celebrate the rich New Haven tradition of locally grown and local food and beverages at the Pardee-Morris House, which, in its early years, was the main house on a large farm in what is now the East Shore neighborhood.

Walkingwood Mandolin Quartet applies the quartetto classico version of the mandolin
quartet to a completely new repertoire. The current, and founding, members are: Ellen Cohn, mandolin; Colin Healy, mandola; Betsy Rome, mandolin; and Gary Wikfors, mandocello.
Starting at 6 pm, the Pardee-Morris House will be open to visitors. The concert begins at 7 pm.
Please bring your own blankets and chairs and enjoy a picnic on the lawn.
Refreshments from Chestnute Fine Foods will be available for purchase.
