Retirement Celebration:  Deputy Director, Cathy DeNigris

On November 21, the New Haven Free Public Library honored long-time staff member Cathy DeNigris, Deputy Director (in the front row center), with an afternoon tea and toast. After 33 years of dedicated service to the library and the New Haven community, Cathy will retire on Friday, November 25.

In her long tenure, Cathy has served in virtually every department from the children’s room to the branch libraries to her current role as the Deputy Director of our institution. She has seen this library grow and evolve, face challenges and celebrate triumphs. Through it all she has been a devoted champion of the library’s core mission – to ensure that all New Haven’s citizens have full and unlimited access to information and knowledge so that they may meet the needs of daily living, have opportunities for self-education, and improve their lives. She advocates for every library user in our community, and has made her steadfast loyalty and commitment infectious among her colleagues.

Cathy will be missed as a colleague, mentor, avid reader, New Haven advocate, and friend.  We wish her much happiness and look forward to learning about her next chapter.
