Cookie Cupboard Manager
Hartford, East Haven, greater Bridgeport area

We’re looking for some cookie loving volunteers to help manage cookie cupboards in the Hartford, East Haven and Greater Bridgeport area (cupboard location TBD). Time commitment would be for two days per week during March 2016 (Saturday availability for March 5 and 12 would be a plus). Hours can be flexible but would request a minimum of two hours each day. Volunteers will assist with completing paperwork for cookie pick-ups, pulling cookies for pick-ups, managing cookie returns and performing cookie cupboard inventory. Position will require light lifting. Volunteer will need to become an Approved GSOFCT Volunteer. Greater Bridgeport area and East Haven
We’re looking for space to hold a cookie cupboard in the Greater Bridgeport area (Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull) and in East Haven from the last week of February through the end of March 2016. The requirements for the space are:

1)    Minimum of 12’ x 14’

2)    Availability: February 22 through March 31, 2016

3)    Space needs to be able to locked

4)    Parking (off street would be best)

5)    Access for truck to unload cookies

6)    No stairs

7)    No charge to use the space

Possibilities could include an empty store front/retail space, a unit at a storage company or space in a house of worship or business/non-profit offices. If you or your company/business has space that meets these requirements OR have a contact for someone who has this type of space, please contact at us membership@gsofct.org; please include Cupboard space in the email subject.

Summer Camp Directors Needed!
Manchester, Oxford, Weston

Do you LOVE being outside? How about hanging out with “the girls?” Join us as a Summer Camp Staff Member and you’ll be glad you did! We have three immediate openings for Seasonal Day Camp Directors in the towns of Manchester, Oxford, and Weston, CT during the months of June, July, and August 2016 (six-week season).

The Seasonal Camp Director is responsible for the safety, administration, and coordination of all activities for their assigned day camp and reports to a year-round Camp Manager. She/he plans and directs the day-to-day operation of outdoor programs that complement the Girl Scout Mission. The Camp Director will assist in selecting staff, and is responsible for supervising and evaluating camp staff. She/he will assist in camper recruitment and work as a team with other Camp Directors.

Girl Scouts of Connecticut is looking for summer camp volunteers ages 18 and above. Discover the joy and reap the rewards of working with children in the great outdoors! No prior summer camp experience necessary. Volunteer at day or residential summer camps and you will receive training, become a valued part of the camp staff, and help provide girls with amazing summer camp experiences. Assist with general office work including filing, stuffing envelopes, preparing materials for meetings, and learning about Girl Scouting. It’s a great opportunity for anyone looking to learn more about the inner workings of a non-profit. Schedule is flexible, experience with Microsoft Office products is preferred. Clerical Volunteer

Do you enjoy organizing, pay attention to detail, and can work independently? We are currently looking for an office volunteer for 15- 20 hours in the Communications Department to help with filing, organizing, and archiving materials. Dates and times are flexible. Are you an amateur or professional photographer who enjoys working with girls? Use your skills to capture the joy of Girl Scouting! Volunteer photographers are needed to attend a variety of events across the state and at summer camp in July. The photos you take will be used with credit but without usage fee in GSOFCT marketing materials. Contact membership@gsofct.org if you are interested. You must become an Approved GSOFCT Volunteer.

Reception Desk Coverage Volunteer

Do you have experience answering phones or general reception desk coverage? We are looking for volunteers who we can call on short notice to fill in when needed. Training will be provided. Please contact membership@gsofct.org with your interest.

Help girls on their Journey

Lebanon; May 13-15, June 10-12

Leadership Journeys are the core of our current National Girl Scout Program. Journey Weekends help girls get started on their Journeys, preparing them to go back home and take action in their community. During the weekend we also dive into Growth Mindset and Goal Setting. Adults participate in concurrent sessions. Our members love the experience, and we need adult help to make it happen. Stay the weekend or come for Friday or Saturday’s sessions – there are a variety of opportunities.
Which fits you the best?

Logistics: Check-in, directions, supplies, housing needs;

Kitchen: help prep, dishes, dining hall set up, delivering snacks;

Girl Program: with a Co-facilitator, implement preplanned sessions on the Journey Topic, Growth Mindset, or Goal Setting;

Adult Sessions: Support Facilitators in sessions;

Set-up and Clean up: takes place Friday morning and mid-morning Sunday.

Prep: Help with questions, organize site assignments, Kapers, prepare materials.

Daring Daisy and Brilliant Brownie Days
Brilliant Brownie Days: East Hartford, February 20

Daring Daisy Day: Hartford, January 30

At these events, girls and adults dabble in a variety of workshops. Topics include games, healthy living, Girl Scout traditions, STEM, art, and more. Help girls earn steps towards badges or share your talents with adults. Time commitment is from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. No experience necessary, we will train you in the morning. Come prepared to have fun watching girls learn!

Service Unit Team Members

We have several different volunteer opportunities for you to join our Service Unit Teams. As a team member you will work with other adults to support Troop Leaders and girls in your community. We are looking for volunteers with a great attitude and a commitment to helping our Service Units grow. Current positions available include Service Unit Manager , Registrar , Service Unit Cookie Manager , Service Unit QSP Manager , and Recruiters.

Time commitment varies depending on the position and your personal interest and skills. Learn more about how a Service Unit operates and additional Service Unit positions. Ad Sales

Work from home

We are currently looking for a few commission based Ad Sales Representatives to secure ads for our printed materials. This is a work from home position (emails and phone calls) and GSOFCT will provide suggestions on our target markets. Videographer

Work from home; some travel required

Are you a hobbyist or professional who can make videos? We are looking to produce “virtual camp tours” of our properties to post on our website. Make one or more! Travel to one or more of our properties to film then work with our Communications and Property teams to produce a virtual tour. Volunteer must have own recording and video editing equipment. Artist/Painter

We are currently creating maps of our camps and want to paint large renditions of them at the entrances of all our camps and in the main buildings. If you have experience in large scale painting and are interested in volunteering your time please email membership@gsofct.org . We can supply paint and tools to get the job done.

Gold Award Committee Member/Mentor

Statewide

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award earned in Girl Scouting. There can be fewer experiences more rewarding than sharing your passion and expertise with girls as they learn, advocate for their community, and grow into our leaders of tomorrow. Gold Award Committee Mentors positively influence and provide direction for the young women as they tackle issues within their community and strive to improve the lives of others. Learn more about becoming a Gold Award Mentor . Public Relations Representatives

The Communications team is looking for Public Relations Representatives throughout the state to help us promote Girl Scouts of Connecticut. Public Relations Representatives promote local troop community service involvement, activities, events, and girl and volunteer achievements; write publicity releases based on input from the service team; and send information out to local media outlets. Shop Volunteers

Hartford, Lebanon, North Haven, and Wilton

Our Council Shops are looking for volunteers in all retail locations to assist with inventory, Trading Post, stocking merchandise, fulfilling web orders, and other shop needs. Hours are flexible and we can work with you based on your schedule. We prefer commitment in three-hour intervals during regular shop hours . Adult membership registration recommended. Museum Volunteer

North Haven

Act as a host at the GSOFCT Museum either during regular open hours or at times requested by groups. No special historical knowledge needed. Orient visitors to the museum, ensure safety, and if desired, share own skills such as songs, quiet games, or sharing your own experiences as a Girl Scout. The GSOFCT Museum is open from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. the first Saturday of each month, and 4:30-7:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month, and by appointment. Wood Worker/Carver

Work from home

If you love to work with wood we are looking for you! Come up with some sample sign designs that comply with our brand guidelines, then get to work creating your masterpieces. We are looking for 15 matching signs that we will use at the entrances of our properties. If you or someone you know would like to donate their time creating signs please email membership@gsofct.org .
