Grasse murder -
The body of a 39 year old Grasse man has been found on a steep slope between St Vallier and Escragnolles, and a murder investigation is underway. His 51 year old brother is one suspect, but is hospitalized following a road accident on Saturday afternoon near Grasse prison. The dead man’s parents raised the alarm on Saturday, and police found his body in a ravine on Sunday with the help of a search helicopter, and by pin pointing his mobile phone signal.
Bianchi critical
Local F1 driver Jules Bianchi is in a critical condition in Japan after sustaining a head injury during the Japanese grand prix. The 25 year old Cote d’Azur driver hit a recovery vehicle which was retrieving another car in his Marussia during a rain-soaked race. He has been operated on once, and could return to the operating table again. His father said in a statement, Jules is in a serious condition and we will know more in 24 hours time.
Mountain bike accident
A 31 year old woman has sustained head injuries in a mountain bike accident on a forest track in Le Lavandou. A securité civile helicopter was dispatched to take her to hospital and she is being treated for head injuries and abrasions in Sainte-Musse hospital in Toulon.
SCUBA
The Cavalaire dive club boat was already back on the dock when one club member started to get the bends. The 28 year old had completed a dive of 43 minutes to a depth of 59 metres, and with serious decompression symptoms, a helicopter was launched to medivac her to Sainte-Musse hospital where she was placed in a decompression chamber.
Democracy re-loaded
Cabris has had the re-run of it’s municipal elections after the results of the previous ballot were annulled for administrative reasons. As in the annulled poll, the incumbent Pierre Bornet was re-elected as mayor with nearly two thirds of the votes cast.
National News-
Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Paris and Bordeaux to demonstrate against medically assisted procreation techniques for lesbian couples and surrogacy.
In Paris, the demonstrators, which consisted of adults and children, waved pink and blue flags as they marched from Porte Dauphine to Montparnasse. Around one thousand extra police were mobilised for the demonstration.
A former stepson and stepmother have finally tied the knot after fighting for months with French authorities for the right to marry.
Elisabeth Lorentz, 48, married Eric Holder, three years her junior, in the small village of Dabo in Alsace-Lorraine. She was previously married to Holder’s father. The couple, who are not blood relatives, pleaded their case through the courts right up to the Elysée Palace, only to receive a signed letter from President François Hollande last year reconfirming that such marriages are banned.

A report in the Wall Street Journal says that the computer giant Hewlett Packard is planning to split in two as it looks to put more emphasis on the fast growing corporate services market.
The paper says that the move,which could be announced as early as today would be a monumental shift in direction of one of technology’s most important pioneers.
HP has 300,000 employees and is on course to bring in 112 billion dollars in revenue in the fiscal year.
However,the company has been struggling to adapt to the new era of mobile and online computing.
The Wall Street Journal says that under the plan,Hewlett Packard will separate its computer and printing business from its corporate hardware and services operations and split it off through a tax-free distribution of shares to shareholders.
The former head of the bond fund firm Pimco says that he’s uniquely exuberant’ since leaving behind management responsibilities in his new job.
In his first interview since leaving Pimco,Bill Gross said that ‘he had always been an investment guy and the hiring,paying people,planning and so on’ became a problem for him.
Speaking to Barron’s,Mr Gross said that ‘managing money is in my blood’.
He left Pimco abruptly last month to join Janus Capital.
He was seen as a key figure at Pimco and since his departure investors have been withdrawing record amounts of money.
And-London has been voted as the most desirable place to work according to a new survey.
The report,from the Boston Consulting Group and totaljobs.com found that nearly 1 in 6 people questioned or 16 percent wanted to work in London with New York and Paris second and third most popular.
Sydney,Madrid,Barcelona,Berlin,Toronto,Singapore and Rome made up the rest of the top 10.
The survey questioned 200,000 people from 180 countries.
London came top because it offers a wealth of job opportunities in a range of industries and it boasts some of the world’s top cultural attractions.

Formula 1-The former Formula 1 driver Andreas De Cesaris has been killed in a motorbike accident in Rome.He was 55.
The Italian started 208 races in his career from 1980 to 1994 although he never won a Grand Prix.He drove for McLaren,Jordan,Brabham,Dallara and Alfa Romeo.
Following his retirement from Formula 1 he raced in the Grand Prix Masters Series for two seasons.
Lewis Hamilton won Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix but the race was marred by a serious accident to Marussia’a Jules Bianchi who suffered serious head injuries after hitting a recovery vehicle on lap 44.
The crash prompted the stoppage of the rain affected race.Bianchi was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery.He’s reported to be still unconscious but is breathing unaided.
Meanwhile,Felipe Massa has said that he was ‘screaming’ for the race to be stopped 5 laps before the accident.Massa said that he was worried about the lack of visibility on the track 5 laps before the safety car came back out and it was dangerous.
All the drivers were visibly upset following the accident.
Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers’championship by 10 points from Nico Rosberg who finished second at Suzuka.

Following the race Treve was immediately retired and will start a breeding career.

A man has been rescued by the US Coast Guard after a failed attempt to zorb 1,033 miles from Florida to Bermuda.
Reza Baluchi was picked up about 70 nautical miles east of St Augustine suffering from fatigue and disorientation.
Coastguards had warned Mr Baluchi on Wednesday of the dangers he faced making the proposed trip and suggested he give up. He refused, but activated his locator beacon when he became exhausted.
