Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed $137.2 billion spending plan for the coming fiscal year includes about a 7 percent increase in aid for each of the two school districts in Riverhead Town, according to Mr. Cuomo’s 2014-15 executive budget released last Tuesday.
Estimated increases in aid for next school year include $1.38 million for Riverhead and $655,00 for Shoreham-Wading River.
Mr. Cuomo’s executive budget, which represents a 2.9 percent increases in aid for public schools across New York, will now go to the Legislature for approval.
Below is a list of how much each local school district is currently slated to receive and the percentage increase that number would represent under the proposal.
Riverhead
$21,373,915, up 6.92 percent
Shoreham-Wading River
$9,357,719, up 7.53 percent
