Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I am a pretty well-rounded 23-year-old woman. I love to inspire and encourage anyone to live a healthier more positive life through fitness. I came from a broken home so I know what it feels like to struggle or feel unloved. I was picked on throughout middle school so I know what it feels like to be mentally crushed. I moved to 18 different schools throughout grade school so I know how to adapt. I was married and divorced at a young age, therefore I know how it feels to have a low self-esteem along with feeling like a complete failure. Fitness showed me how to focus, commit, dedicate and love; this ultimately changed my life. Simply believing in myself to do a difficult set brought positivity and self-esteem back to my demeanor and now I’m able to be proud of the woman I’ve become over the last few years including the struggles, they obviously pushed me in this direction to better my lifestyle.

What sparked your interest in training and how did you get started?

I couldn’t bench the bar in high school, I drank Coke or Pepsi everyday and I lived for fast food. Nothing made me want to start training. I just did it. I seen soldiers going to the gym one summer day and I was bored so I decided to tag along. That inspired me in a way; I knew that I’d probably make a complete fool of myself since I was such a weak link in the past but I told myself, “please don’t be that girl.” I bench pressed the bar, I did rows with proper form. Immediately, my goals started taking over, first I wanted a firmer butt then I wanted to correct my poor posture. For two months I trained with the boys consistently, one of them was a trainer. I learned and I brought that knowledge with me to the gym on my own. Fitness/Weight Training slowly started taking over my life. Then I researched ‘clean eating diets’ and ran across competition diets and I guess you could say the rest was history. I fell in love with the results and how my body felt.

How would you describe your body before you started training?

Being mixed with West Indian, Filipino and African-American, I ended up with the Filipino body type of Skinny Fat. Everything was skinny and mediocre. Yeah, I was comfortable in a two piece but seeing my physique now, I never want to go back to that bag of bones I called a body.

What are your hobbies?

I legit have none. When I’m not training I like to spend time with my family and friends; bowling, movies, sports events and any kind of training I’m down for.

Please describe a typical day for you. What is your daily routine like?

4am wake up, cardio, get ready for PT

6-8pm Meal Prep for next day (2-3x week), errands, walk dog, visit family, EAT

8-9pm Cardio, Shower, Pray and Relax

Let’s say I don’t have that much time during the day to workout, so I really want to burn major calories in a short amount of time. What is the #1 “bang for the buck” cardio exercise I should do to burn serious calories?

Jump Rope, Weighted Burpees, Jumping Lunges and Leg Raises 4 x 25

What is your current weekly workout routine?

Monday: Chest & Abs & Hamstrings

Tuesday: Biceps, Triceps & Calves

Wednesday: Back, Shoulders & Abs

Who are your biggest inspirations?

Each one of these ladies inspire me in different ways: Lais DeLeon: Sexy & Positive; CeCe Canary: Smart & Sophisticated; Rachelle Dejean: Vibrant & Resourceful; MiMi Kong: Lioness & Strong. Then there’s Mike Rashid, who inspires me to have a positive and graceful mindset.

What are your weakest body parts and how do you work to balance them?

Hamstrings, I train them twice a week and I’m still working on them. I balance them out with a defined back and glutes that demand attention.

What do you enjoy most about the WBFF?

The glamorous side of fitness. This federation has given fitness and bikini models a platform to be beautiful, inspire others and strive for greatness. It brings the beauty out of every competitor with a physique component. I absolutely loved being on the WBFF stage this summer, truly the most exhilarating feeling and such an honor.

What are 3 exercises you could not do without and why?

Rows, Lunges and Deadlifts, I like to capture people with my personality with my face and presence but I have to give them something to watch while I’m walking away. These three exercises ensure that I have a nice back, tight glutes and a sexy curve. Every skinny girl’s dream body can be created with these exercises.

What does your daily diet consist of?

Tilapia or Chicken, Broccoli, Spinach or Asparagus and if I’m on carbs, Oatmeal, Sweet Potatoes or Brown Rice. I keep contest prep simple, when I’m not on prep I like to eat clean and treat myself with foods I enjoy when in a social setting.

What are your favorite workout songs?

Donald Trump by Mac Miller, Forbidden Fruit by J.Cole ft. Kendrick Lamar & Not Tonight by Elle Varner, or her entire Perfectly Imperfect album.

What would you say is your greatest weakness?

Time management, my schedule changes from week to week depending on if I have an event to plan or working an event that weekend. So it’s hard to track everything properly. But I don’t get caught up in being perfect, I’m a soldier.. I adjust and get what needs to get done, Done!

What are the top 3 tips you recommend for staying motivated on a fitness plan and truly making a healthy lifestyle change?

Speak positivity over your life. If you’re spiritual, PRAY.. Always be thankful for what you have, your health, your family and yourself.

Keep motivated people around you. You want to keep people who are on your level or on a higher level around you. Support plays a huge role when times get hard and you just need to vent or help brainstorming ideas.

Commit and hold yourself accountable. You know better than anyone else what you SAID you were going to do. So just do it. Make yourself proud. Become a better person simply by sticking by a goal through all the rough patches. Nothing worth having comes easy. It’s hard staying on track but it’s rewarding being on track and being able to finish what you started.

How does it feel to compete against so many women on one stage at Worlds?

I feel honored. There were so many beautiful and successful women from all over the world. Furthermore to be recognized by the judges twice, placing Top Ten in bikini and fitness, I feel even more honored and appreciative. It made all the hard work and obedience worth it. I’m just thankful for everyone who believed in me and my ability to compete on such a competitive stage.

Tell me one random fact about yourself?

I was voted Most Admired my Senior Year of High School with a guy who got accepted to MIT.

What’s next for you?

My Pro Card, Fitness Modeling Opportunities and the BIG Move to California.

Thanking God for putting this dream in my heart and making it a reality through faith and hard work. My mother and family for believing in my ability to be great and do spectacular things with my life. My friends Jessica, Bre, Neko, Antwoin, Jenny and Rico who keep me motivated and listen to me vent. My State Family Programs family/coworkers that deal with the smell of fish and hard-boiled eggs everyday and support me 100%.
