We’re seeking a Financial Software Administrator!

Richland Library is seeking someone who is an expert in financial technology systems tools, who knows various relevant computer languages, and possesses strong and extensive experience with complex database concepts. This individual is someone who has strong analytical skills, and is ready to provide solutions to technical issues in a timely manner. He or she is a good communicator, who feels comfortable transmitting acquired knowledge to staff as it pertains to financial software; and is also a constant seeker of improvements, keeping informed of changes in the field.

Where: Finance Office** Main Library; 1431 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201 (VAC 2140-2)

Salary: $1,879.50 biweekly salary, plus benefits

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Here are some of things you would be doing if hired for this position:

Serving as chief technical expert and resource to departments in financial systems technology, including systems support for all finance software areas and related management software areas (payroll, accounts payable, budget, general accounting, HR, etc).

Providing technical support and direction for the development, design, and systems integration from definition phase through implementation and training of new financial software modules.

Providing alternative technical solutions to Library financial systems and requirements.

Promoting and coordinating technical knowledge within the finance department and the entire Library system.

Testing and implementing new financial software releases, new products, etc.

Tracking and identifying new opportunities to improve our methodology and training offerings.

Coordinating responses and providing solutions to financial software issues and other closely-related management software areas reported by staff.

Recognizing system deficiencies and implementing effective solutions.

Creating, executing and revising project work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs.

Assessing business processes and systems and establishing protocols for business continuity (disaster planning).

Anticipating future systems needs, identifying proactive solutions to satisfy needs.

Assisting in the maintenance and update of the Library’s finance department internet and intranet pages.

Creating and implementing reports and systems to track and monitor financial data.

Assisting in the establishment and maintenance of Library financial management policies and procedures related to assigned areas.

Developing and conducting financial software training of staff; preparing written instructions for use of hardware and software by staff.

Assisting in the fiscal year-end close as it relates to assigned areas.

Keeping the Chief Finance Officer informed of potential problems or unusual events.

Attending and conducting training sessions, conferences and workshops to keep abreast of current practices, programs and legal issues.

Maintaining supportive communication and coordination, as needed in regard to the system with the Personnel Office staff.

Keeping informed of professional developments.

Performing other associated duties as required or assigned.

Interested in what you’ve read so far? Here are minimum requirements needed to be considered for this excellent career opportunity:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field. Minimum of 4 years work experience with emphasis in administering financial systems, including systems analysis and software implementation, preferably in a government setting. MUNIS experience preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of various computer languages including SQL; experience with report writing tools including Crystal, MS Access, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), etc.

Knowledge of complex database concepts, client server, and internet systems and architectures.

Ability to maintain proper financial records in a systematic and retrievable manner.

Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

This job involves being “on the move” in our libraries: It will include standing, walking, crouching, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
