Linux Operations Architect Location: Redwood City Duration: 3 -6 CTH Essential Duties & Responsibilities Create and maintain technical documentation for operational readiness (Logical/Physical designs; Elicit Business and Functional Requirements to create Technical Requirements) Participate in on-call escalation rotation Build, tune, troubleshoot and document systems in high availability clusters Create and maintain security best practices Build and maintain custom RPMs and custom package repositories Configure and maintain networking equipment, including load balancers, firewalls and switches Deploy application servers in a cluster configuration Create and maintain production tools for day-to-day operations and 24x7 monitoring Create Technological Stack Roadmap for Standards, Tech Refresh, New/Different Tech, Decommission Build Technical Vendor Roadmap Attend Vendor Conferences Conduct Vendor HW/SW Evaluations Escalations and Mentoring for other Hosting Operations team members Requirements Minimum 5 years work experience Production datacenter based Unix/Linux (Redhat and CentOS) expert familiar with modern industry best practices Apache/Tomcat, Weblogic, Java Configuration, Troubleshooting and tuning of Web Applications Experience with VMware, KVM and VCenter; architect, install, manage, clone, integrate and monitor Experience with firewalls, VPN, routing, switching, load balancers, monitoring, security and DNS Experience with Network Storage, Replication and Backups (SAN, iSCSI, NFS, etc.); EMC desired Experience with scripting (Perl or Shell) Working knowledge of Client/Server Architectures, High Availability and 3-Tier Systems Experience building and operating a data center production environment Deep experience with the Linux command line, shell scripting, automation of common tasks, and configuration of systems management/monitoring tools (e.g. Collins, Xymon, Rackspace Monitoring, LogicMonitor, Graphite, Foreman, Packer, etc.) Familiar with Jira, Confluence, Crowd and other Atlassian products Familiar with Puppet and Git/SVN If interested in this amazing opportunity, please contact me at: joseph.apodaca@rht.com
