We are in search of a BI Developer for a company in Santa Fe Springs. Business Intelligence Developers must be data experts, as they work primarily with different types of databases and different types of software. This job involves developing and fine tuning IT solutions, which can include anything from coding to testing to debugging to designing to implementing newly developed tools. A BI developer spends a lot of time researching and planning solutions for existing problems within the company. BI developers also are responsible for building OLAP, or online analytical processing. The BI Developer at also work with databases, both relational and multidimensional. BI developer positions require a degree in computer science or certification and/or programming and a substantial amount of work experience. As the primary focus of this position is to solve problems, BI developers must perform mining data and presenting it in an understandable way. They should be capable of creating tables and writing reports on their findings. Responsibilities: Coordinate with Business Analysts and customers to develop business requirements and specifications documents. Develop standard reports and functional dashboards based on business requirements. Maintains business intelligence models to design, develop and generate both standard and ad-hoc reports. Generates reports for internal and external customers for business performance monitoring and business decision making. Manages new report generation and report enhancements based on change requests. Performs data warehouse design and modeling according to established standards. Determine business intelligence and data warehousing solutions to meet business needs. Ensure to generate and deliver quality reports to customers in timely and accurate manner. Identify and resolve data reporting issues in a timely fashion. Perform quality assurance checks on new or enhanced reports. Stay updated with business operations and business intelligence processes. Business Intelligence (BI) Developer Tasks Create technical documents to document SQL Server, Oracle or other database contents, concepts, and mapping between databases. Participate in the design, development, and analysis of data architecture and warehousing approaches. Create business intelligence tools and reports, such as physical data models and dimensional analyses. Design, code, test, and aggregate results from SQL queries to provide information to users. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or five (5) years of relevant experience; or a combination of education and experience. Applicant must be able to demonstrate practical experience implementing functional solutions within a software application based on user requirements. An overall understanding of Microsoft Office suite of applications, with a minimum of intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook; experience in support of user data analysis in Excel. 3+ years experience developing and implementing enterprise-scale reports and dashboards, Including: Working with users in a requirements analysis role.
