A growing Medical Billing Service company is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join its Virginia Beach team that provides medical billing and coding for a large portfolio of Orthopedic and Vascular practices. The Medical Coding Specialist will be responsible for reviewing submitted claims for services from various practices, and ensure reimbursement for those services from numerous insurance companies. The medical coding specialist will review claims, code submittals, research coding discrepancies or payment issues, document facility performance, and enter CPT codes from corresponding ICD codes. The Medical Coding Specialist will also reach out to both insurance companies and practices to verify information about patients and services rendered. The Medical Coding Specialist must have 2+ years of experience in Medical Coding, a Certified Professional Coder Certification (CPC), have strong experience with EPIC medical coding and billing software, and possess a strong knowledge of medical terminology. The Medical Coding Specialist must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word and Excel, have a strong attention to detail, the ability to multi task in a fast-paced team environment, strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to complete tasks efficiently with great time management abilities, and have strong technical skills and the ability to pick up new responsibilities quickly.
